Now available: Dead Pedal/Footrest/Carpet Protector

I'm now offering my latest project for sale - the Bolt carpet protector footrest dead pedal.

The issue is that the carpeted left foot rest in the Bolt quickly gets dirty, and don't even ask about the pine needles the carpet absorbs - way beyond vacuuming - you need tweezers.

So the solution is a sturdy black 3D-printed ABS plastic foot rest cover, about 1/8" thick, so it doesn't raise foot placement much. It's designed with non-slip nubs, to mimic the brake pedal cover on the Bolt.

Installation takes 10 seconds - just place it on the carpet and press a little. It won't move around, because the back side is completely covered with 4" wide Velcro hooks. It is easily removed, if ever: just peel it off the carpet.

I'm asking $30US, which includes USPS Priority Mail to US addresses only. PayPal rwzehr @ gmail(dot)com

I'm not big on bureaucracy, and I think it takes customs forms to ship to CA. Otherwise I'd do so.

Here's a close-up of a couple of them fresh off the printer.

Are you willing to share the files so those of us with 3D printers can print our own?

Not at this time. I design and manufacture products for money. This design and prototyping work took a few hours of my time, and I just ordered a new 3D printer.

Fair enough. You deserve to be reimbursed for doing the design work. Order placed.

Thanks, Rick.
I may wind up raising the price a bit, as these are taking 4 hours each to print, and costing me about $12 to make and mail.

3D extruder printing is more for one-off and prototyping because of the low print speeds vs. vacuum forming which literally takes seconds/piece.

Don't get me wrong, I love my $200 (Monoprice Select-Mini) 3D printer... but even top end $$$ 3D printers aren't suited for commercial manufacturing.
