GM Rolling Out Nationwide Lease Deals

Just selling the 2017 Bolt EV with an impressive all electric drive range of 238-miles isnít enough for GM, now the automaker is offering a national lease.

At $329 a month for 36 months, thereís also $3,809 due at signing and a generous allowance of 15,000 miles per year. According to autoblog, thatís better than the 10,000 to 12,000 range offered by other EV manufacturers.

Actually, this lease was already available in California, Oregon and parts of the Northeast. The only catch with this nationwide lease deal is the amount due at signing. The upfront costs in San Francisco and Los Angeles is only $1,559. The affordable cash down can be attributed to the additional $2,250 regional lease discount CARB states get, California in particular get a total of $3,500.

For those living outside of the CARB states, the almost $4,000 cash down will increase the lease rate to around $435 per month, not exactly the cheapest option out there compared to the $199 a month offered with the Nissan Leaf. But the trade-off is a long range EV that you can take on trips thanks to a spacious cabin, optional DC Fast Charging capability, and 56.6 cu.ft of cargo space.

The offer has been available since April 1st and is set expire May 1, 2017.

For some reason, the lease deals don't yet match the bargains available for purchasing a Bolt. Maybe it's just a matter of time. Meanwhile, some of the Bolt competitors are offering great lease deals, in view of the fact that the Bolt's range pretty much rendered them otherwise obsolete.

No idea how dealerships work, maybe they get more incentive from the manufacturer to outright sell a car than lease one, so those who are outright purchasing are given a better deal.
