edit - I meant to make the point that since BYD is apparently the number one EV company in the world, by some measures, this may be good to know in terms of using it sometimes to reduce the Tesla-centric or US-centric aspects of the conversations, to the extent that may be useful.

"...According to data of CAAM, BYD ranked number one again in terms of sales volume in the global new energy vehicle sector in 2018, and has won the champion title of the global new energy vehicle sales for four consecutive years. The Group’s industry-leading position was further consolidated and its brand influence was further enhanced....."

I did once have a ride here in the US in an e6. Seemed ok, but of course impossible to judge just by a quick ride.

2013 Chevy Volt
[looking to trade it someday for a used BEV with a well-preserved battery pack (probably liquid-cooled) and 200+ miles of range.]

Since this is a Chevy Bolt forum, and not an EV forum (or a Tesla forum), does it not dilute the purpose of networking to drive our Bolt EVs smarter and safer, by jumping off subject to Chinese vehicles and "Tesla-centric" topics?

That's what the lounge is for; shooting the breeze. People that don't like off-topic convos avoid the lounge.

I expect Chinese EVs to show up in the US once the tariff stuff sorts out. Maybe certain protectionists don't want the tariffs to sort out as a way to protect "American" jobs and companies.

It seems perfectly reasonable that Chinese vehicles could be high quality and price competitive since everything else comes from China. EVs are quite a bit simpler than ICE counterparts too. We should be seeing reverse engineered Tesla motors from them any time.

Give me absolute safety, or give me death!
