GM Announces OTA Updates by 2023!

Got to hear what the ChevyBolt "pundits" have got to say about this!

https://www.teslarati.com/gm-announc...-updates-2023/

Couldn't find any reference to the announcement in other EV sites. This is from the point of view of a Tesla website.

My 2017 Bolt got an update over the air.

GM's vehicles were pretty advanced back in the 1980's with onboard diagnostics, fuel injection, mass flow sensor, etc...

Garage
And here’s an article from Wired about the topic:

https://www.wired.com/story/gm-gives-vehicles-new-soul/

While our Bolts do get some form of OTA capability, it seems like the bigger takeaway here is the processing power of this new update. I wonder how the Bolt’s system stacks up against this one that’s about to roll out.

Might I ask how you are able to tell? Is there some indicator that it happens?

We got e-mails and letters in the mail about the update. The car would ask if you wanted to apply the update. It was obvious. Here's the thread back then: https://www.chevybolt.org/forum/509-...-now-live.html

I've had my Bolt since May 2018 and don't recall having received any updates. Don't think that this has been a very common occurrence.

My wife and I love our Bolt, so that is not an issue, but GM is glacial in its movement forward.

If the updates are anything like the Bolt's, color me unimpressed. I received a single update, and all it did was fix some bugs and remove a feature (the ability to play movies and mp4 music). Now I can't listen to one of my favorite albums any more because it's in mp4 format. Great.

We've had ours since July 2017. Never got a single over the air update. Did the infotainment update at the dealer. The only thing that changed, as far as I can tell, was that we lost the ability to run videos. So I'm not a fan of updates so far. :-(

That update *should* have also fixed the Android Auto shrunk display issue. Assuming you use AA.
