Lighting the Charge-Port: Again

Here's an idea for those of you who would like a simple way to light up you dark charge-port opening. Amazon sells an inexpensive (6 for $10s bucks) pack of LED lights (Button Lamp) that are tiny and can fit (easily) inside the Bolt's car-port. Here's the Amazon site and photos of my "installation." The little light did not interfere with my charger:

As you can see it's a very small light. There are a few locations you can stick it inside the charge-port.

When lighted it's darn bright.

surgeonFWW, ZoomZoom and Sibilance like this.

Assuming that the AZ in your signature stands for Arizona, I would be interested in seeing how this survives the summer there. I also live somewhere pretty darn hot.

Otherwise, this little lamp does seem to fit there nicely, and CR2032 or CR2025 batteries are cheap and easily available. Not a bad idea at all.

Weird number.

Sibilance, my Bolt lives on Cape Cod in MA! I'm a snowbird, hence the AZ (south of Tucson) part. I suspect you can replace the batteries (I believe two small ones), but the light comes in a pack of 6 for ten dollars, so, it's kind of a throwaway.

Good idea ! But don't you need a light to locate that light? I mean, you are still blindly groping around in there trying to find it to turn it on....

With the super snug and overly heavy fit of CCS multiple connectors, is there room for the position that is shown?

I've been here. I've been there. And I've been in-between.

Driving Electrics since 1973.

I'm going to try out my first DCFC Monday. I'll report back with how the light worked out and either my success or failure! So far it fits fine with my home charger J1772 plug.

Tried out my first fast-charge today (Cape Cod Mall, EVgo). No problem inserting the charging plug into the Bolt with the light in place.
