How do you remove the rear bowtie?

Hi,

I bought a Bolt last weekend and am reading up on the things that people have done to theirs. One thing that people mentioned is that they've removed their rear bowtie and I was wondering how that was done.

After that is to plastidip all of the chrome out . Thanks again, Pete Blair!

I looked at some new ones on the lot today, you can buy it with a black bow tie, for about $160 extra.

Garage
Getting the old one off was easy with some strong nylon string, definitely helps if it's warm.

Getting the adhesive residue off was a pain though, goo gone did nothing, I read WD-40 works but I don't have any of that so I used Tri-Flo and it eventually worked but it took a lot of time and elbow grease.

Same thing for the "Bolt EV" badge on the rear.

I am proud of my original Bow Tie

I am proud of my original gold Chevrolet Bow Tie on my 2017 Bolt and the Bolt EV emblem. They both should help the retail value in the future, and say 30 years from now when the Bolt becomes a Classic Car!

Goo Gone is a light weight, usually for only grease and sticky fingers.
I use Goof Off which works very well...

From what I was reading goof off will damage automotive paint.

Remember, the bow tie is on the Glass Rear Hatch, not on painted metal.
