  1. Aggravating heating control

    Technical Discussion
I have found that unless you use full AUTO mode, the car will always have the heater on to some degree if it's cold outside, even if the cabin temperature is above your set temperature.
  2. Bolt Engineers' View

    Technical Discussion
There absolutely is regen available at all times, unless you just unplugged and are going downhill for a bit. The system has a maximum voltage of 400V, which generally it's pretty good at sticking to (I've seen as high as 404 peaked under regen). The battery, unplugged, is never at 400V...
  3. New OnStar release Apr 9, 2019?

    Software And Firmware Updates
There may be a new version out 2 days ago for OnStar. I have a screenshot of a 2019 which is not what I am used to seeing: About ______________________________________ Build Number gminfo3:6.0.1/V509-774-P/116:user/release-keys/18.46.61 Nov 7, 2018 Update History April 9, 2019: OnStar System...

  5. Chevrolet Bolt OBD2 PIDs

    Technical Discussion
You make a convincing case. Like I've mentioned though, I'm stumped.
  6. Chevrolet Bolt OBD2 PIDs

    Technical Discussion
Blast your AC. The radiator will turn on, that PID stays zero. I don't think it's the radiator. What is really weird is the behavior of my car when I first discovered the PIDs vs now is different. I always had even battery and cabin heater numbers, the battery pump RPM always worked based on...

  8. Adding dcfc after purchase

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV General Discussion Forum
FWIW - A Bolt owner in the FB community has a broken pin in their L2 connector. They were quoted $700 USD in parts plus $1500 in labour just to replace the plug. Apparently you have to take the side and front panels apart to get access to the wiring. That is to say that, at a dealer, $1222 in...
  9. Unstable cabin temperature during cold weather

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV Issues And Problems
I know that this was a while ago, but which sensor and where needed to be replaced?
  10. Bolt EV Battery Diagram

    Charging and Batteries
Do you know this as a fact or are you just guessing? Are the two smaller modules 5 and 6?
  11. USB CAN bus sniffer vs BT

    Technical Discussion
Anyone here used a USB CAN bus OBD2 adapter as opposed to the Bluetooth version? Does it actually allow full speed bus dumps? BT should be able to transmit at 2mbit - about double what's needed for the 500kbit bus. But it seems to overflow in seconds.
  12. Bolt EV Battery Degradation after 70,000 Miles

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV General Discussion Forum
It appears to be a "present usable capacity" not a "state of health capacity with degradation"
  13. Bolt EV Battery Degradation after 70,000 Miles

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV General Discussion Forum
I think that I mentioned this before -- but I've done two Full-to-zero runs now (where the car actually cuts off the battery). In the first case I had 60.9kWh used and 61.5kWh capacity. In the second case it was 60.7kWh used and 61.2kWh capacity. This really leads me to believe that my...
  14. Heated Seats and Steering Wheel - Power Usage

    Technical Discussion
So, it turns out that the heated steering wheel uses more than a single seat. Inspired by the Volt post in their forum, I decided to take my ammeter to by Bolt and measure what was happening with both the heated seats and steering wheel. Long story short: One Seat: - High 35W - Medium 28W -...
  15. Chevrolet Bolt OBD2 PIDs

    Technical Discussion
Yeah, as we have seen, it's a "present" capacity estimate, not a state of health indicator.
  16. Chevrolet Bolt OBD2 PIDs

    Technical Discussion
I just updated my spreadsheet document to include EngineLink instructions.
  17. Chevrolet Bolt OBD2 PIDs

    Technical Discussion
I'm still not convinced how much battery conditioning is even possible on this car, and if there is, how effective it is. While my pack was failing I routinely watched the voltage differentials between all cells, and despite sitting, they rarely budged.
  18. Chevrolet Bolt OBD2 PIDs

    Technical Discussion
I have an entire group of cells in the 62-68 range I think which are all lower than the other cells, but not that bad. It's very strange.
  19. Chevrolet Bolt OBD2 PIDs

    Technical Discussion
I'd argue the opposite. People care about range. Most people don't know the difference between a kWh and a Volt.
  20. Chevrolet Bolt OBD2 PIDs

    Technical Discussion
Have you tried other readers? I've never had a problem on a dozen or so cars with my readers.
