  1. Interesting overview of Ford's EV strategy

    The EV Lounge
Hmmmm... I think Tesla has already achieved this. Tesla the company is not profitable, Tesla the Model 3 is and it's certainly popular. This statement is just depressing to me.- They're basically admitting that they aren't any good at what used to be their core business for 100 years...

What Did You Do To Your Chevy Bolt EV Today?
What is this thread about? What exactly is the OP trying to accomplish?
  3. 2020 Bolt gets 259 miles range

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV General Discussion Forum
That's exactly it. Bolt may not be the best electric car, but it is the best value for most people. It is for me for sure. I'm still waiting to see something I'd be willing to trade for. My next EV is likely still to be announced someday in the future.
  4. So A/C is "worth" about 20 miles per battery charge?

    Charging and Batteries
I never care about A/C or heater use as long as I can make the trip. Since I never use my Bolt to travel beyond it's range, the A/C is never an issue. The heater gave me concern one time on one trip, so I killed it's use part way through and continued on with the the heated seats and wheel. I...

I can't believe that video is five minutes long!! Wow. Tesla fans will watch anything with a Tesla in it. A photograph of the display would have sufficed. I wonder if the message on the monitor would actually be noticed by an excited doggie rescue warrior.
  6. Kona EV reportedly explodes, blows garage door off

    The EV Lounge
I think the difference is the spontaneous nature of the battery fire. The traditional car fire occurs when either the car is in a crash, or when it's operating. The BEV fire has been shown to occasionally occur when the car is at rest. Often for hours. This kind of, parked spontaneous...
  7. Finally, the perfect car for GJETSON may become a reality!

    The EV Lounge
In a vehicle like this, low cost is paramount, so I would assume RWD because that is absolutely the cheapest way.
  8. Finally, the perfect car for GJETSON may become a reality!

    The EV Lounge
Basically yes, but presumably with better batteries.
  9. Kona EV reportedly explodes, blows garage door off

    The EV Lounge
Sure, we'd admit it. It's just as far as I know, there haven't been any fires, even when involved in bad crashes. I think GM has taken a very conservative approach with their battery packs and with their OnStar monitoring, they pull the bad packs off the road before there ever is a fire. In...
  10. 2020 Bolt EV?

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV General Discussion Forum
Exactly!! This "cheap interior" metric as to which we should judge a car is so ridiculous. A minor difference in cars over the years has become a MAJOR issue due to dumb car magazine influence. Could the Bolt's interior be better? Yes. Would it make any difference at all? NO! The car would...
  11. Want a better looking Bolt!

Chevy Bolt EV: Likes And Dislikes
This thread goes a long in explaining how hard it is to design a car everyone likes. It is impossible to please everyone. That is why they try to benchmark and target a particular group, or segment, then style in that manner. It is what it is. It's too bad if they missed your segment with the Bolt.

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV General Discussion Forum
Yep. The Model 3 has shaken everything up and now all the old companies are reacting, including GM just like I said. The Japanese are late to the awakening, so 2025, maybe 2024 is when we'll see their efforts. GM should be a little ahead.
  13. 2020 Bolt EV?

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV General Discussion Forum
Well, to get one's mind wrapped around GM's big "mistakes" with the Bolt, you have to consider three things- All legacy automakers are reactionary to the market and conservative in product planning. The plucky start up has a huge advantage here. They HAVE to break the mold. GM is not afforded...

It is tough to do when there is so little new to talk about and the existing car is so trouble free.

Love that show. Great discussion. Particularly at the very end when they bring a point I keep hammering on- massive blue color job loss. What happens??
  16. Review of Model 3 - Bolt EV owners afeared?

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV General Discussion Forum
And this is the beauty of the Bolt. It really is the affordable BEV that is practical and can easily serve 99.7% (or so) of nearly everyone's driving needs. Unfortunately, the Bolt gets drowned out by the cacophony Tesla chanting and ordinary ICE drivers believe that the Tesla is the only...

I guess they'll kill whatever Elon is bored with.

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV General Discussion Forum
Not what I thought and not what I wanted, so thankfully no envy, but still nice none the same. It is an improvement over Shock IMO. Likely if buying in 2020, I would choose this. It looks like the same color they offered on the Pontiac Solstice and Chevy Camero.
  19. Why shouldn’t I buy a bolt?

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV General Discussion Forum
I have had the opposite experience. I have transported three adult humans in the back seat and have gotten praise from them in that there was more room than they expected based on their judgement of the outside. All have said there is plenty of room. However, I may not have transported average...
  20. Review of Model 3 - Bolt EV owners afeared?

2017+ Chevy Bolt EV General Discussion Forum
They have plenty of time to buy a Tesla at current pricing. FSD is much further off than Elon thinks it is. Solving the engineering problems is one thing, solving the regulatory issues is another. Of course buy NOW!! is always good advice with a Tesla. The price and options change week by week...
