I am super excited to have purchased a used 2017 bolt EV with 70k miles on it, however I am a bit concerned now that I have been able to charge it fully. The range is currently 158 mi at a 95% charge. It is a nice 60 degrees Fahrenheit outside and all tires are at 42 psi. It will not charge...

Hi All, Has any 2017 LT owner observed this -- loss of range as weather warms up? Our 2017 LT has the recall update. It has a mileage of around 39,000. Through out winter, rain, and cold in California, GOM consistently shows 230's miles in range with an efficiency of 4.5 mi/kWh at "full...
  3. 2017+ Chevy Bolt EV Recalls
Has anyone had theirs full battery pack replaced? My dealer is telling me that they will be replacing mine. I clarified if they were replacing a module or the full pack, and he responded with "full pack" If that is true, has anyone in this forum had theirs replaced on 2017 Bolt? If so, how...

Just called the concierge line and requested details about the buyback program. The rep actually mentioned the option and offered to take down my information without being prompted, which was a nice surprise. I plan to post pseudo-real time updates here to track the process and my thoughts along...

Hi all - My husband bought a used 2017 Chevy Bolt the other day and when we picked it up today, we asked them to have it fully charged. I got in and the GOM (Guess-o-meter) said 78 miles. We kinda freaked out. When he bought it, they told him that it wasn’t fully charged and that number would go...

I bought a new 2020 Bolt last weekend, and I've since noticed that every time I drive the car, I get a little shock when I open the door to exit and when I close the door. This happens every time I leave the car, even when I wear cotton. Has not been that cold here in Southern California. I have...

I experienced something unusual and like to know if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. Background: I had always used the Hilltop Reserve (HTR) when charging my 2017 Bolt and got 190 miles out of each charge every time. I had also always got 4.1 miles driving out of each kWh. What's...

Hi All, we were excited to get our first EV but unfortunately in our first day discovered that a full charge displayed a range of 139mi. This seems well below expected even with the battery recall applied with 10% reduced charge. Is this expected? Considering returning car to investigate as...

I'm new to the forum & really appreciate all the well-informed posts, especially about calculating range and battery issues. I'm off-grid with a new solar system, so it's (finally!) time for an EV! I'm comparing the 2020 LTD with a $19k one-owner 2017 premier with 31,000 miles (pics of range...
  10. 2017+ Chevy Bolt EV Recalls
I've been in conversation with GM regarding the recent battery recall and they have offered to replace or repurchase my leased 2019 Chevy Bolt with 12,xxx miles. I haven't received details yet of what exactly they are planning to offer, but I'm wondering if anyone else is also considering this...

I purchased my 2017 Bolt in August of 2019. It now has 50K miles and I drive about 6K miles per year. I do not know the maintenance history, if any. Now I am trying to figure out if I have a "first design battery" or a "second design battery". According to my VIN # it appears I have a first...

Link to Coursera course I am taking this Coursera course and Week 2 covers everything about Lithium Ion batteries how they are built, assembled, and designed. It's pretty great stuff and the professor provides information on what Tesla uses. It got my curious on what the Bolt uses. For...

Is there anyway I can tell how much juice (how many kilowatts) I still have in my 2017 Bolt at anytime?
  14. 2017+ Chevy Bolt EV Issues And Problems
I have a 2018 Ampera with a sudden drop in kWh. Charged the car with hill top reserve (around 80%) and then drove 5 days, spending 18,8kWh according to the infotainment screen, while "fuel gauge" was at 25%. 55% of the battery was spent on 19kWh and that should have been around 30kWh. I do have...

Hey all, I just purchased a gently used 2017 bolt ev with 31k miles. At the time of writing this it has yet to be delivered from Carvan so I've been searching through the forums to see what may be useful to know before it is delivered.I do have a few questions/concerns about my new bolt though...

Has anyone else noticed, the sticker on the battery for a 2020 Bolt reads 64kWH? Does anyone happen to know why? Shouldn‘t the battery pack label read 66kWH? If memory serves the the previous model years battery label read 57 instead of 60. Kinda strange.
  17. Charging and Batteries
Have anyone ever noticed how long the Bolt sits at 100% before completing the charge? I waited over 10 minutes just to unplug it before the Bolt finished finalizing. I know it wasn’t completely finished as it was still drawing 5 kilowatts. should I have let it sit longer? I have a feeling it...

I have a 2019 Bolt and I absolutely love it. A couple months ago I noticed that it wasn't charging up all the way overnight. I soon realized that it was seeming to "fall asleep" a few hours after being plugged in. The light in the dash wasn't lit up at all and no electricity was coming out of...
