I got this transmission error in early morning when I tried to shift to "D" or "R" mode. The vehicle could not move, and it returned to "P" mode automatically in two seconds.
I tried several times, it always failed. But, one hour later, when I was trying to arrange a towing service, the vehicle began to work. I could drive it as usual, but there was a yellow service light showing there was still problem.
After I drove the vehicle to my dealer, they just upgraded the software and the warning light was gone. No hardware has been changed or fixed.
I doubt this just was a software problem. I guess the software update simply overwrite the warning message and hide the problem.
The transmission error is really confusing. I did not know there is a transmission in EV before.

The Bolt is like a Borg cube, populated by 9 billion mercurial gremlins. kEVin's last tantrum was "What DCFC? I am not seeing any DCFC's here". Turn the car off, lock the door, unlock the door, turn it one, usually works OK. Or let GM worry about these.

Yes, 1-speed, fixed ratio transmission. The motor is not directly connected to the driving wheels.
