It's been said $100 KWh is the inflection point where electric cars would start to be equal or cheaper than gas cars.

Battery pack cost is more than cell cost, since there's a lot that goes into connecting and packaging everything, as well as BMS electronics.

This is good news, but I still don't think we're there yet based on the fact that even with $7,500 or more in incentives, EVs aren't selling like hotcakes. So EVs need to somehow make up the massive incentives they will lose in the future, plus some to make them more compelling to consumers than ICE alternatives.

We've got a long way to go before EVs are standing on their own and overtaking ICE sales. More and more I'm thinking plug-in hybrids will become more common than pure BEV.

If a battery breakthrough occurred today, it would still be 5 years before a vehicle designed to use it was released.

Yeah, VW says they are building starting in Nov but not selling until later. Maybe they have a way to assemble the car without battery then add it on in 2021. We're close!
