I received an email from Chevy today...

Get 15% off accessories with code Q3RT18

That's ANY accessory... But the big ticket savings is on the Aerovironment 32 Amp Charger (EVSU) direct from Chevy.

https://accessories.chevrolet.com/p...rovironment---associated-accessories-19355504

List price $549, with Discount $467 (ish)

I have one, and it works well with the Bolt. It also has a 25 foot cable so - depending on where you mount the unit - your car could be in or outside your garage.

If you don't have one, this is a decent savings.

Personally, I'd rather have the Tesla Universal Mobile Charger (UMC) + Tesla Tap for home use if I were going to pay over $450 for an EVSE.

Different people want different things in an EVSE. Personally I chose to spend more and get a "smart" EVSE (JuiceBox Pro). Some people want to have maximum flexibility which is where a Tesla UMC and + J1772 Adapter really shine, still others want the simplicity and (relative) low cost of a wall mounted 30A-32A EVSE which is where units like this come in. Personally I feel at $467 this is a decent deal and I'd choose it over a Siemens VersiCharge unit.

If I needed to replace my portable EVSE (or if I started taking long trips) I'd definitely get the UMC+Adapter but I wouldn't want to deal with a portable EVSE for all my charging needs.

I had considered the JuiceBox Pro, as I am a geek... but I realized that WiFi connectivity and phone control wouldn't get me much more than the Aerovironment working in partnership with Bolt's Time of Use programmed charging.

And then, I can get an update on process on the MyChevy app, if I really need it.

But what I have found is that now I am mostly in plug-it-and-forget-it mode. Now I know the Bolt's time of use charging will have the car ready when I want it. And the simplicity of a wall mounted unit works great for my wife as well.

Still, it's what you prefer... and likely moot anyways... In ten years, we will all be tearing up our garage floors for Qi Wireless Charging anyways. Maybe they will have a big decal sticker that adheres to the floor to save cost! :)

Since I'm dreaming about future tech... Will the Chevy Corvette ever drop the V8 for electric? From the article below, it looks like it could be a monster!
