OK,

So time has not proven to be a friend of the seats in my Bolt EV Premier.

The padding they used is already collapsing and the leather panel finish and quality is shocking.

Already my buttocks are signaling my cerebral cortex to look for ways to drive my 2002 Audi A4 with its rock hard seating which is still more comfortable than that which the Bolt Offers.

I am spending time looking at $6000 Recaro Racing seats online and dreaming of a happy derriere while ensconced in said electric chariot....

My coffee is often bitterly cold once I break the trance of aforementioned online dalliances......

Can anybody help me? :nerd:

It is so interesting to me that some folks are sensitive to this and others, like me, have no issue with the seats, nor would I have ever know that some folks found them uncomfortable unless I had read it here.

From what I understand there are a couple of potential issues and at least two options. Having never experienced any issue with Bolt seat comfort take my comments fow whatever they are worth to you.
1) The seat you have has a bolt or bolts that were incorrect and protrude into the seating area. Remove and replace (or cut) the bolts and issue resolved.
2) There is a long thread about adding additional foam and increasing the amount of padding, very low cost option.
3) Remove and replace seat with a factory GM 2018 or 2019 seat. GM apparently listened to the feedback and added additional padding to the 2018 -2019 seats. IIRC it might be they did something at the factory very similar to the additional padding instructions found here.

I will add that I recently sat in a 2019 Bolt LT and even knowing the background could not for the life of me feel any difference between the new ones and my circa 2017 Bolt LT seat.

Good luck and hope you are able to achieve a happy derriere while motoring around in your electric chariot...

If you're sitting at all on part of the plastic on the edge of the seat then extra padding is the only way to raise you above said plastic.

Then there's people that are lighter in stature that the seats don't seem to break in for them. Again, extra padding might help.

I was reading on one or other forum you can pump the seat up to a higher level and I just did, seems to have changed from unpleasant to quite reasonable on a quick 12 mile test run. I will know for sure when next engaged in one of my epic Bay area traffic home runs that take me three hours or so to execute as to how the ol derriere feels about it but it will require a long term fix.

The Orion assembly guys tell me a 2019 seat will be a direct swap replacement, but good luck getting your hands on one...

What they don't know is I have access to a nice executive jet and have acquaintances skilled in rapid seat removal.....Troy in Oakland county huh....... :)

I can't help much, but like you my seats got worse for me. I had no problem with them when new, but the foam seems to have squashed for me too. I'm a little heavier than average. The seats are uncomfortable now.
