Hi,

We love the car, but the seats are killing our backs. I'm thinking we are not the only ones who have this complaint! We do have the basic fabric seats. We also have a Volt and do not have nearly the issues we experience in the Bolt. Are there any ingenious devices that anyone has found to help???

Thanks in advance

I wonder if the frames are the same between the Bolt and the Volt seats ?
Take em out and have a look. If so, just get some Volt seats :)

Yeah, I added some padding to the seat on my Bolt a bit after I got it. It wasn't hurting my back or anything, but it did seem a bit light and people were talking about adding padding.
I did that and it is nicer.
It is also nice because with the heated seats (which I have), adding padding doesn't interfere with that, as the padding goes under that part.
Adding cushions that sit on the seat would probably affect the heated seats a bit.

That said, that was just for the seat portion of the seat. ;-)
I believe some people have also done some additional padding for the back of the seat.
I haven't done that myself.

I purchased an emergency blanket in a pouch at Costco. It is very much like a compact pillow roll. I keep in between the seat back and bottom and adjust it when I'm seated to provide lumbar support. No problems with seat comfort or my back since adopting this solution!

For my 2017 Bolt with fabric seats, I carefully cut out two foam cushions that fit between the raised edges on both the seat bottom and the seat back. My spouse made fabric covers that are color compatible with the seats. They solved the problem and I can still get the benefit of the seat heater. Interestingly, the Bolt rear seat is very comfortable just as it is with no additional cushions.

That is a great idea. I added bottom foam as it is very easy to do, but the seat back is a problem and that looks like I might try it. I am waiting for detailed instructions on how to add padding to the seat back inside under the heater... if anybody decides to do this, please take lots of pictures and notes and let us know how it goes.

Eureka!!!! Just found how to add rear seat-back padding on this today on the Volt forum:

I have to do this. No padding on seat back edges where they hit my shoulders--- shame on GM for this, Very bad choice.
