Hello all, just ended by 2017 chevy bolt lease early and picked up a new 2020 LT lease.
I have been noticing since I got the car (two days ago), everytime, I open the door, the range says 390 or 416 and comes back to 250. Is this a software glitch? Anyone experiencing/experienced this?
Just a quick background when we got the 2017 bolt, one day the range dropped from 180 to 4 miles and then didnt turn on, after several minutes when we were getting ready for the tow, the range came back as 180. Took it to the dealer who waited few days to troubleshoot and said that there was a defective battery module and they replaced it and it was all fine after. Hope its not something similar with my 2020.

I've also recently returned my 2017 bolt for a 2020 lease and have run into the same issue. I would also see a crazy mileage range inside the chevy app from time to time telling me I had over 400 miles of range. I haven't yet taken my bolt in for any service, I know they often do some minor to major firmware updates then.

The other issue I've had, I wonder if you or others have had the same, is that the listed range when charged never goes much above 230? Even when I turned in my 2017 bolt, it would typically charge and tell me I had about 225-245 miles of range. This 2020 bolt is brand new and has an additional 20 miles of range, but is always maxing out between 220-230ish. I wonder if there's a different range algorithm that may be adjusted in the firmware causing both these issues?

It's interesting that 250 times 1.6 = 400. I wonder if the car's software is coded in metric and it displays the range in kilometres very briefly during initialization until the software reads that the user preferences are set to US measurements.

Yeah, I’m getting this too on the app with my ‘20 Bolt. Try doing a second refresh to see if the number changes, it did for me last time.

As for the MyChevrolet app, it’s very buggy, has been since ‘17, used to tell me my battery was dead every once in awhile, for no apparent reason.

The range shown in my car is accurate, no issues there, and I’ve seen ranges of 260+, including when I picked up the car from the dealership.

A warranty issue doesn’t “use up” your one free service, and your one free service is a tire rotation at 7,500 miles.

If your issue is principally with the MyChevrolet app it’s doubtful that the dealership will be able to do anything to help.

not with just the app, this number is seen when I open the door and then immediately it drops to a different number.
I will take it to the service department then to troubleshoot further.

Why bother, if it gives you the correct number after a split second?

Think of it as an amusing quirk, or don’t look until you start the car.

A guy like me who wants everything to be perfect, its hard to take out that split second correct number out of the mind. Hopefully some system reset or firmware upgrade will mitigate this.
Will keep the forum updated.

I hope YOU are perfect as well in everything, split second or less. Because asking for perfection when you aren't...

P.S. Joke aside, I see you use Android as platform. Never had any issues since the last year with my application running under iOS.
I know a lot of people with Android have problems even connecting using the USB port on their Bolt EV. Many needed to buy a new Android USB cable. It may be OS related....With all the flavors of Android, it's harder to make compatible an app to all of them. Especially when the Cell phones makers have their own proprietary version of Android.
