As mentioned in prior posts here (TY ALL FOR THAT INFO), if you try to shift too quickly out of park after you turn on the vehicle, the Bolt will give you a “Conditions not correct to shift” or something close to that as a message on your driver’s display. This is the 2nd time it has happened to my teen and both times the fix was as follows:

turned the car off (doesn’t work but screen goes off and car then restarts on its own and display comes back on)

Close door and lock car with fob

take fobs out of range - for him about 100 ft into the house

Waited 10 min

Go back to car and use Chevy App to unlock car

Able to Turn off car then and restart It

waited till entire start sequence completed and was able to shift out of park and drive normally

TY to the community for their prior contributions on this topic, hope this helps others as well

Patience is a virtue!

The Infotainment screen will also lock up or go dark more often than not if you jump the gun.

I have learned to use a routine of Start, Buckle, Go. That leaves enough time for diagnostics to complete and rarely results in issues.

It happened to me once.

What I did to cause “Conditions not correct to shift” :
I opened the door (without starting the car), and the screen said, "initializing."
I sat in the car and did whatever for 5 minutes without pressing the start button.
5 minutes or so passed, and I pressed the brake and hit the start button. The car needs to initialize again.
5 seconds later, I was still distracted from whatever I was doing, and I couldn't remember if I started the car or not (the screen was not ready, still initializing), so I pressed the brake and the start button again while the screen was initializing.
After the screen is ready, try to shift into reverse, and “Conditions not correct to shift” appears.

What I did to solve the issue:
Close the door
Lock the car with the keyfob (Still sitting in the car)
Unlock with keyfob
Press the brake and start the car.
WAIT until the screen is ready
Shift and drive away.

I always do like Arob: Press the brake, hit the Start button, buckle up, then shift into Drive or L. I don't wait for the infotainment system to finish booting up, and I've never had a problem with either my 2017 or 2020.
