If you haven't heard, the 2023 EV/EUVs are now $6000 less than the 2022. See link to one of many articles. This is a huge amount - and RIP to those who just purchased a 2022 full price.

Plenty of us are still trying to complete the swap. Based on this info, there is no way i'll be able to order a 2023 that comes even close to my $44k MSRP that im doing the substitution of collateral. Has this news changed anyone's plans or approach? This process has been miserable and a huge inconvenience.

Im holding out on the MSRP swap for my 2019 Bolt. Looking to upgrade to the EUV, so I was quite happy to see that. Trying not to have to buy new tires before the swap 😜. I read somewhere that the pre-sales could start June 9th, so so im hoping to get an order in ASAP.

I've been working on a swap since last year (with BBB case). GM never picked up my 22 EUV order so had to finally tag a November one. Swapping from a 2020 Premier lease to a loaded 22 EUV LT. So GM would have cut me a check for $5K according to my RC because of the MSRP difference. Called today to see if that number would increase to $11K if I do the swap with a 23 order instead and was told that GM would not reimburse more than $6K no matter the difference between MSRPs. Never heard of that one before and I've been dealing with dozens of their people since last August

I already have my November swap being delivered, wonder what my options are. This was my prime concern when doing this, knowing the Bolt was over-valued. It's still sitting in Ohio for 2 weeks, I may try and back out of it. This is a legal transaction for value and they just changed the calculation.

Makes sense. MSRP swap is based on just that, the MSRP of the vehicle. The fact the '23s are now $6k cheaper doesn't change anything WRT the 22's MSRP. The fact you are even getting a $6k check is pretty **** good.

Swap for any other Chevy around 44K or a little more that can be flipped easily and then re-buy the 2023 Bolt at the lower price.

Are you saying they would accept a swap to a 23 ???
So new swaps are not totally dead???? Or even a buyback.

probally would not do so as so close and don’t wanna start over.but it is intriguing

Cause starting over would be SO much fun.
Especially with your experience

I just spoke with my RC regarding this as my swap is more than my MSRP. With a 2023 I would pay nothing out of pocket and still get the same car. However, from what he said, GM is not doing swaps on the 2023 vehicle. Has anyone been able to get clarification if they can swap to a 2023. I might take the route as Takeluck mentioned to get a vehicle with a high resale value, turn it around and buy the 2023 off the equity.

Completed MSRP swap to 22 EUV last week.

Needless to say, I feel like a sucker.

My advice for anyone going down this path who really wants to get rid of their recalled car: Take the buyback, find some sort of temporary vehicle, and get a 2023 at the reduce price.

I'm out $6K but oh well.... life goes on.

This only works if you are not on a lease. Straight buyback on a lease is not a good option.

No, no you are not. The buyback is based on the price you actually paid for the car and has nothing to do with MSRP.

Also, you assume that there will suddenly be a glut of 2023's like supply shortages will not be a problem for Bolts.

And you feel like a sucker because GM replaced your car at no cost to you and probably gave you a check and you are complaining because you did not get more! Registered in 2019 and this is one of your 9 posts. Wow, just wow.

What makes sense? As I said in my original message, I asked them about a swap with a 23 in which case the MSRP difference between my 20 and a 23 would be about $11K and I was told that no matter what, GM wouldn't reimburse more than a $6K difference. I've never heard before...

I don't know about new swaps but if you already had a case going, I'm being told that I could actually "restart" the process with a 23. It makes sense, the November allocation is almost all gone and they're not building any more 22s but they still have open and unresolved cases...

I and others where told we can do that but if a battery comes for your car the swap is dropped.
kinda risky if ye have a 22 nov car waiting to ship. They have turtles pulling the cars south. 8 to 9 weeks is common.

Honestly, I've been hearing that for months (I've been dealing with this mess since last July). My understanding is that they have to abide by the agreement in the BBB settlement, which is based on your state's lemon laws - no more, no less. But who knows at this point....

To be clear, I cut a $9K check for the MSRP swap, due to the difference in MSRPs, mileage on my prior car, and my state's lemon laws. That's not a complaint, its the deal I signed up for and agreed to. That's done.

But had I waited a few days.... a straight buyback (which was also on the table from GM) would have made a lot more sense.
