I leased a 2020 Bolt Premier a few weeks ago and saw that the wireless charging cradle that it comes equipped with kinda sucks. It doesn't fit my Samsung S10+ nor the other family members iPhones. With a case on, it doesn't charge right and you need a lot of jiggling to get it to work. It seems I'm not the only one here that has this issue.
Since I have a 3D printer, I figured I'll design and print off a new cell phone holder. After many test prints and constantly adjusting the size by fractions of a mm, I was able to get it to (kinda) work. It charges wirelessly the iPhone X with a case on either top in or bottom in. I need to adjust a few mm to get my S10+ with a case on to charge, which is the next test print I'm currently doing.
I designed it to have 2 slots, which "should" allow you to store 2 phones in it. This proved incredibly difficult as phones with cases these days are quite wide and thick, which makes the actual unit to be very thin in the middle (the middle divider is one line thick. The side walls are also quite thin) but it was the only way to make it universal for the family phones (be it the much bigger S10+ or the smaller iPhone X). You can charge one phone wirelessly and use the other slot to hold a phone to use with Apple carplay or Android auto. Or use the other slot (that is away from the wireless charging side) to hold other things.
The color is white as that was the color of some old filament I had around the house. The top of the case is almost flush with the rest of the console, though one thing I did notice is the hole is a different size at the top than at the bottom (which made it a real pain trying to get it to fit right). It's held in place by itself, as it is a tight fit (I need to wiggle it side to side a lot to be able to pull it out).
Once I can get it to charge my phone correctly, I will modify the file to possibly create a "lip" around the top so it flows nicer with the rest of the car (as in the photos, you can see a tiny gap in between the holder and the rest of the console).
