A Tow Hitch for the EUV?

I am pretty sure I have seen a couple of Bolts with a tow hitch installed, but not EUV's. I would like to tap into the pool of collective knowledge on the subject :)

There are some good post (recent ones) on pulling light loads (up to 2,000 pounds) with the Bolt. This has for sure made me question if I will (or won't) buy the Maverick I ordered LAST year, that Ford will probably build 6 months from now, after letting My2023 orders pass me in line (I actually have a VIN/build week months ago, then they cancelled it).

I'm excited now that I can still tow with this, and I'll get it first, so if I am not happy with it I can always sell and keep the trucklette (unless Ford pushes me from a My2022>My2023>MY2024).

The Curt hitch looks nice. It mounts to the bumper bolts just like a lot of the nicest European hitches. Curt lists it as “easy.”

I am generally a fan of Curt brand hitches… I have installed quite a few. I did not like their design for the Bolt EV, and ended up going with the Drawtite, because it used the bumper bolts (and other bolt holes). But for the EUV, I do like Curt’s design.

I was curious about the weight of the hitches so I messaged etrailer. com. I liked the ECO-HITCH purely because there was no trimming of the fairing but it is considerably heavier, and pricier than the CURT or DRAWTITE. Since I'm only going to use it as a bike rack I'm thinking the CURT will be in my future. The Drawtite isnt officially approved as of yet for the 23 EUV.

ECO-HITCH = 52 lbs
CURT = 29 lbs
DRAW-TITE = 30 LBS

My Curt hitch arrived a week ago and I was waiting for the weather to warm up in NJ so that the little plastic clips holding the trim and bumper on are as pliable as possible. I'm always afraid of breaking clips. Does anyone have a good maintenance diagram or source for the little clips holding the black unpainted rear wheel well trim? Just in case I break one or two. Those are the ones that I'm most worried about

I put the Drawtite on my EUV last week. The hardest part was getting one of the flex latches below the running light to release. The trim clips on the black trim were relatively easy.

'Wrenching Fool' guy on youtube has the best video. I installed the Tekonsha light kit at the same time because my bike rack has lights. Definitely do them at the same time if both are to be installed.

One of the flex latches broke near one of the running lights so having warmer temperatures or heating up the plastic would likely help.

Well that was a PIA!
Installed the Curt this morning. Biggest problem I ran into was getting the metal bumper off the car. Nuts came right off but the bumper must have been torqued a bit when they installed it. I could see some of the threads were rubbed when the factory put it on. After beating it with a rubber mallet for a while I got it off and opened a couple of the holes a bit. Took about 2.5 hours to install. Glad that its over with.
Super efficient car, the bike not so much.

I definitely didn't get the top bumper portion back together properly. The area in the pic needs to clip somehow but I can figure to what. Anyone familiar with this area of the bumper?

I can move the rear bumper fasica by hand ~1/4" from underneath.
Appears it rests on the 2 brackets and maybe has a tiny bit of plastic on outer edge that's supposed to limit movement

That's the 2 brackets you can see with the bumper off as in Wrenching Fool's hitch install video that are above the rear vents.

After staring at the brackets and wiggling the plastic bumper around for 15 minutes it's sitting better than it was. I never got the satisfaction of a secure click or snap like anything is actually holding it securely. It just seems like it resting on that bracket and it allows it to float around a bit. I guess for those little parking lot bumps that happen without braking any plastic.
