Deep thoughts.... :D

Just got my Bolt EV back from the body shop where it sat for a week.
Don't worry, no accidents - just a couple very minor paint flaws I noticed since delivery.
The Body shop did a fantastic job with the repairs but I drove a 2018 Chevy Cruze while it was away.

Now, I have some respect for the Cruze, averaged about 34mpg in my city driving, handling was decent, comfy seats!, cold AC, nice looking vehicle (IMHO), but that 4 banger struggling to come up to speed...

Drove up to the body shop location today and I noticed this blue sparkling beauty. Got in to drive, immediately noticed the rear camera mirror (like I've never used it before), the soft/silky feel of the steering wheel, put it in L (can't believe it wasn't second nature but didn't take long to get back into the swing of things).

I love this car!

Yep gas cars are really good these days. 34 city is excellent. No highway driving? I rented one of those on a trip, yes the power is not so great.
Everything is perceived in a comparison. After driving the Bolt every car feels sluggish. After driving the Prius in Eco every car feels animated. Since I drive both in about 1:1 ratio (with a touch of CX3 for the sake of pure ICE experience), I have zero expectations, and equally nothing surprises me :)

There are loads of economical 4bangers that are fun to drive. Relatively light simple fwd's combined with 160 to 200ish hp imo is a great recipe, fiesta&focus st, gti&gli, Civic si, 500arbath, cooper s, mazda3 2.5, etc.

The cruze for sure aint one of them.

A local family member has a model S.. which I drive as little as possible. For the exact reason you state.

6 months ago I was driving a honda fit... you could punch the gas pedal to the floor and it'd speed up a litle bit. The joke with my kids was telling them to lean forward and rock ot help the car. First time I did that in the Bolt, all our heads hit the head rests.... we didn't see it coming. She takes off like a Bolt from the blue! ha!

You drove a base Cruze. My 3 week-old Turbo diesel A9 has a leather steering wheel, along with a leather interior and heated seats. And many other options. I got 51.5 on my 1st tank driving from Md. dealer to SW Florida with the cruise set at 75mph. They are great cars.I can't speak about the gas models but I couldn't be happier with my trade of a '17 C7 for my TD.
