I would like to add a hitch to my 2020 Bolt for the purpose of holding a bike rack. The issue is that our car is leased. Does anyone know how that generally works? Will the dealership install a hitch on a leased vehicle? Does GM make a hitch or am I looking at 3rd party? And how will this play out at the end of the lease term?

Thanks for any info and suggestions.

Easiest way is to just get an after market third party one. They are fairly simple to attach. Some require removing material from the bumper, which on a lease is a no go.

Here's a person with the same question:

When I returned a 2017 for a "swap", the sales guy said they don't care about a receiver being installed reducing value, so I left mine (1.25") on.

Things might be different for a lease. I guess it's possible that a dealer might charge you for "damage", yet leave it on, and sell it as a "feature" later, and pocket your money.

BTW, if you decide to put one on, I'd recommend a 2" receiver. I liked (and installed) the TorkLift EcoHitch. A 2" receiver opens up many more rack possibilities. I also really like the Thule EasyFold XT 2 bike rack. Very pricey, but quite versatile, with a small storage footprint.
