I love the single pedal mode and am constantly holding the ROD paddle down (this can be difficult while turning on my local hilly "twisties") as I prefer the way it drives with stronger regen.
I've found a way to temporarily fix the paddle down to keep it in "L+ mode" all the time if I so choose.
Question(s):
Is this truly just enabling a stronger regen mode?
Could it cause any negative issues to the vehicle or other downsides to my driving preference? I've read many ROD paddle articles within the forum and wanted to see if I'm missing something...

Sounds like you may have found a way to make L the default setting. I can't imagine a problem from keeping the paddle engaged. Keep us posted on your experience..

OK. I just went out and wrapped a long velcro strap, in a n X or figure 8 pattern, around the left side of the steering wheel, and the paddle. This keeps the paddle engaged, but doesn't interfere with any of the buttons on the front of the spoke. i drove up our road for a bit, and back into the garage. My conclusion...not for me. It gives you more regen than D, but not as much as L. And most frustrating for an L addict, it doesn't bring you to a stop. You still have D at low speeds, so are stuck using the brakes.

I think the OP was referring to keeping the paddle engaged while in L mode. He called it L+.

i've been driving in L for quite some time, it's second nature to flick down twice when i put it in drive now. it actually puts on the brake lights when you get off the power too. I've only experimented lightly and I don't feel that the paddle gives you any more breaking than L when you squeeze it, and there's been a few times I've about crushed it through the steering wheel trying to stop

This brings up a question I have had. I always use L. I like being able to come to a stop exactly where I want without using the brakes. Occasionally I misjudge and add the paddle to stop where I want. When I do that, am I getting more regeneration, the same amount, or more? My suspicion is that there is an amount of centrifugal force available when I take my foot off the pedal and whether I stop sooner or more slowly does not affect translating that force into regeneration. Possibly I am getting less depending on how the paddle works. Anybody know?

Is it possible that you're using it when your battery is full?

In my '17, when in "L" (all of the time), and I pull on the paddle, I get significantly more regen, when not full.

Yes, I am planning to keep the paddle engaged while in "L mode" (my default driving mode) for max regen. I always use hilltop reserve as I live on a hill, and don't see myself needing cruise control during my commute. So far it sounds like no downsides...

I have found a way to truly maximize regen, and it was staring at me all the time. It is the “R” (regen) setting on the transmission. In fact, the regen is so powerful that the car goes backwards!!!

(Unfortunately, it inverts the meaning of the pedal, so you press for more regen!)

This is ironic humor — it might also work, but personally, I have never tried engaging R at high speed.

The Chevrolet Owner's Manual has a lot of great information about the Bolt and how it works. I love my Bolt and use "L" all the time.
I see the following on my shifter:
N = Neutral
D = drive
so...
R = Ridiculous
L = udicrous
P = Plaid

Right?

And did you know the speedometer works when you're going backwards!

I almost always drive in L. Using the paddle in addition to L does give a stronger regen, but that is really only needed if I need to slow more quickly than usual. This can help if by doing that you can avoid using the brake, otherwise there is no energy regen benefit.
