Why change so soon? I'm all about tires too and completely understand but I usually wait a year to replace. We live in Florida and GM, as well as most manufacturers, do not take into consideration the southern high heat. These Michelin's are UTQG rated @ 480AB and while a "B" temperature is 100-115 degrees, most summer asphalts can reach temps well over 120, in essence melting your tires prematurely! IMO, this is just another $$$ gimmick; both dealerships and manufactures pray that consumers will only go back to the dealer service center for replacements.
SORRY to offend... but I find many consumers to be to stupid when it comes to wear and tear items such as tires and they believe whatever the dealership tells them. Like brakes... you ONLY use 1-pedal driving but in 2-3 years I bet they'll be telling you to replace them shoes
"
Oh, you say I need a new set of tires already, but the cars only 2 years old and has 20k miles." AND, "
You say they'll cost me about $310/per tire (
tirerack.com $243 + dealer markup),
that over $1200 not including tax. Well if you say so, go ahead and put a new set on so we will be safe."
They'll be back at the dealership w/in 2 years shelling out another $1200!!!
I'd go with the
Pirelli P7 AS Plus 3 ($180) or
Yokohama Avid Ascend LX ($166) as both are UTQG rated @ 800AA w/load level of over 1500lbs/per tire to support the nearly 4k-lbs the EUV weights. BUT... I would buy from Sam's Club, and also recommend Cosco or even BJ's as they usually take much better care of their customers! Sam's Clubs price for the
Pirelli's is $162 - $80 on a set of 4 + $20 installation per tire w/lifetime balance & rotations is only $650-ish + tax; you'll be changing tires about every 4-5 years in Florida based on these specs
When I replace, I'll be upping the tire width to at least 225, possibly 235, and a slightly lower profile like 45s
Best of luck in your tire searches!
