Yes it works. There is a free version that is the same thing that also works.

I went for a test drive of the ID.4 and noticed it has MirrorLink. Unfortunately for Samsung users, MirrorLink support was removed.

I've added phone contacts so maybe you can use the customize toolbar to create a link to the app you wish to run.

I'd guess you'd have also modify the apps also.

I use fermata via Android Auto on my 2020 LT and a Oneplus 6T. However, I am comfortable with rooting my phone and installing custom roms, so I'm not a typical user.

The malware risk is primarily on the phone. I'm not aware of any incidents of malware infecting an OEM infotainment system via Android Auto.
