I got a LoadKey Wireless CarPlay adapter for my 2017 Bolt about a month ago, and I highly recommend it. No more forgetting my phone in the car because it never leaves my pocket. Connection is fast and flawless. So far there has been just one instance that the device just would not connect to my phone. I was getting upset with it until I realized that I had left my phone in the house. This option is also much more affordable than some others that I looked at. It’s $99 on Amazon and as of today (12/20/21) there is a $14 off coupon, so you can pick one up for $85. Well worth the investment IMHO.

I've been looking for an Android Auto version of this. All the likely ones I've found seem to be stand-along Android dongles that you'd have to load apps into in place of using your phone. If anyone's found a real wireless AA solution that would plug into the Bolt and connect it to Android Auto running on my phone I'd be very interested.

Very positive experience with this device (T-Box) Full Android AI Box - Convert Your Car Screen to Android Tablet
.it took 2 weeks with regular shipping. Support was responsive and very helpful in tracking my order. After a firmware update, it works great with my chevy bolt. I can jump in the car with my iPhone in my pocket and by the time I am pulling out it’s already running CarPlay. No visible lag. My iPhone has great battery life so I only need to plug in for a long trip.

I'm not all that enamored with wireless CarPlay. At times the phone disconnects from the car and reverts to a Bluetooth connection, then hooks back and and restores the view. I have no idea if the issue is the car or the phone. And the other issue is the phone battery drains much, much faster when CarPlay is connected, even if I'm not even using anything on the phone. I'd label it about a 40% faster drain with my iPhone XR.

Found your problem! ;)
Yeah, but it's a government issued phone, so I have no control over any upgrades. I did just start a new job detail, and the person I'm replacing left his phone and iPad for me. I'm going into the office later this morning and see what they are. I may swap it for my XR if it's newer. :D

Well good luck! When it comes to wireless, generally the newest phones don't have any connection issues at all. Although iPhones have a tendency to need to be paired fresh after software updates. The newer phones tend to be better at monitoring what is draining the battery, too, and often will limit the amount of drain background apps create.

Are you talking about the Apple or Android product? You mention one but include a link to the other.

Yep. I had one. I bought mine for the main reason to watch Netflix, Youtube, Hulu, and also play Xbox via Gamepass all on my lunch breaks, all on the SC screen.

And another option for wireless Carplay: Amazon.com: Wireless CarPlay Adapter, ZETEADE 2022 CarPlay Activator Dongle for i Phone(Car Model Year:2017 to 2022), Wired to Wireless SmartBox, Support Online Update Plug & Play, Fast Pair for I OS 12-15 : Electronics

I bought this from Amazon for $71 including tax after the $20 coupon was applied. It was very easy to setup following the 3 step instructions. And it just works! I have a Pixel 6 and use the AAWireless adapter, but my wife has an iPhone 12, so I bought this for her to use. It was the cheapest wireless Carplay adapter I could find (which fits my primary requirement :)). Note that it currently has no reviews, but three answered questions that say it works. As always YMMV.

I'm a bit confused by this: I have a stock 2021 Bolt and my cellphone (it is a flipphone for what that's worth) flawlessly blue tooth wireless connects to the car... without ever leaving my pocket. With no third party device.
Are you talking about something else?

He's referring to Apple CarPlay, which puts the phone screen on the car's infotainment screen. Starting with the 2022 model, the Bolt now has wireless CarPlay, which uses WiFi rather than Bluetooth for the connection. CarPlay (and Android Auto) provide far more than just the audio connection and phone control you get with Bluetooth.

No, Apple does not support CarPlay with an iPad of any version or with any adapter. Only iPhones work with CarPlay. There's another thread about CarPlay and iPads, with the consensus that there's no way to make it happen.

Actually, Carlinkit 4.0 has been released. It supports both Apple CarPlay for iPhones and AndroidAuto system for Android mobiles.

I just saw Paul Rankin made a video doing a box opening and a quick demo. #carlinkit 4.0

I purchased one of the CarlinKit setups, but nothing happens. I plug it in like I would my phone, the unit has two lights, and nothing. Trying to force to switch to AndroidAuto simply gives the error box saying to plug in a compatible USB device or whatever that text is. I've tried letting sit for my entire 40 min. commute home, nothing connects to my Bolt.

Unplug the CarlinKit unit and plug in my phone and AA launches immediately. It's not a cord issue, but the CarlinKit unit doesn't seem to work with the Bolt.
