I wish the volume from all the sources were identical. Right now the volume of the Maps navigation voice is really loud, and this is unpleasant. The odd thing is that if it were on your phone, there is no volume setting for Maps. I can't think of a situation where you wouldn't want all the volume of all the services identical. Is this a CarPlay issue? Is this a Bolt issue?

I'd love to know how to set this up better.

Waze with volume control is just months away from joining carplay. Currently I'm just using waze over bt.

If you lower the volume while Siri is giving directions, it lowers the volume for all the other apps too?

The volume buttons on the iPhone control overall system sound. Ringtones and alerts (including direction prompts) by default have a separate volume control that doesn’t get affected by the buttons. Presumedly the thinking is those are potentially more important you’d want those more prominent, in case your system volume is low.

You can set the volume for those on the phone in Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Ringer and Alerts. There you can also choose to have the volume buttons affect those as well.

A nice shortcut to changing the volume of those in car is to adjust the volume knob while a direction prompt is being played. I believe the level indicator is slightly different at the top of the CarPlay display when you do that but I forget as I don’t look at it often. But doing so will just affect the volume of those alerts/prompts rather than the overall sound volume of music, etc.

Hey Thank You Both for that awesome tip. That did it - wan't intuitive until you weighed in. Now the only thing I struggle with is getting the iPhone to relinquish control of the screen to the Bolt. I find that if I type the address on the phone, I have trouble switching CarPlay apps on the bolt i have to enter the iPhone desktop area to make CarPlay work. Sometimes only the top of my list of Pandora stations are displayed - no solution for that yet.
