auto highbeam (brights) override

So I was driving home last night and it was my first real time using the highbeams. The car did a good job 95% of the time but there were a few occasions where the computer had the highbeams on and they shouldn't have been. I tried pulling back on the lighting stalk to override the computer but it didn't stick at all they came right back on. So now instead of just blinding someone I'm flashing my lights at them.
So is there a way to temporarily override the auto brights? Or if it keeps performing so poorly and making me look like an inconsiderate jerk how do I turn off the auto mode entirely?

For some reason the Auto High Beams on my 2017 Bolt are occasionally impossible to enable by pushing the "A" button on the turn signal stop. Most of the time it's fine, but every once in a while there just isn't any way to get them activated other than by pulling over and turning the car off and on - then it'll be OK. Very annoying. I've tried to discover a pattern of behaviour that causes the glitch, but just haven't been able to figure it out...

Digging up an old post. I'm having similar issues with my automatic highbeams. The only like to work for 15 to 20 seconds then I cant even turn the system back on without turning the car off. Did you find any solutions?
I think I found that I could restore the Intellibeam headlights by turning the headlight switch (the rotary switch shown below) to the "off" position. On my 2017 Canadian Bolt the switch is spring-loaded and it won't stay in that position, it'll flip itself back to the "auto" position. And it won't even turn off the headlights if it's dark out (and you're not in "Park"). But if I recall correctly after I did that I was then able to press the "A" button on the turn signal lever and the Intellibeam system turned on. If that doesn't work, try flipping the switch the other way to the "parking" or "headlights" position and back again.

If the system keeps turning off on its own then I'd suspect something blocking the windshield camera.

The auto high beams on our Kia Sedona work almost flawlessly. On our 2019 Bolt not so much. I drive to work at night and the high beams shut off a lot more than they should due to lights coming from people's houses/driveways. They also don't always shut off for cars off in the distance heading my way.

I generally just control them manually. I do wish there was an easy button on the steering wheel to turn them on/off.
