Big Chevy - Little Chevy: A Study In Contrasts

Walked out to my Bolt and was stunned by the difference in size! Silverado 2500 HD vs. Bolt EV. It is even more impactful in person. The roof of the Bolt is about the height of the hood on the Silverado.

I was curious to see what kind of mileage a 2500 HD would get, and learned that the EPA doesn't even bother testing fuel economy on this class of vehicles?!?

Huh! That doesn't even qualify for a second look around here. The tires still fit under the fenders.

What I never got was the interest in so-called fast trucks

We have guys around here with trucks that will out corner many cars...massive, wide, low profile street tires well outside the wheel wells. It is pretty terrifying to see one rolling up on your bumper, especially if they pass on the yellow line.
Not if ... when.
Most amazing feat of driving I ever saw up close, was on my Bolt trip down the entire BRP, and Great Smoky Mountain National Park to Dandridge, Tennessee. I was running at the speed limit. My goal was to drive as much of this road at the posted 45 mph limit as possible. Many of the curves were decreasing radius, blind, and with wild animals often in the road, it felt risky much of the time.

I had a guy in what appeared to be a NASCAR style race car, with plates, come up within inches of my bumper. This was on the windiest part of the entire BRP, and it really brings out the racer types. He went around me downhill, in one of these curves. I am pretty sure there was never more than a foot between the sheet metal of our two cars during the entire maneuver. I just held my speed, and my line. The guy ahead of me thought he would mess with this fellow, and pulled to the center of the road, only pulling over for oncoming cars. The racer dude was right on his bumper for several miles. Finally, the obstructing driver pulled into an overlook. I suspect he was soon sorry, as the racer was on his bumper when he stopped. I didn't hear any gun shots, but I suspect a fight might have ensued.
