Big Chevy - Little Chevy: A Study In Contrasts

Walked out to my Bolt and was stunned by the difference in size! Silverado 2500 HD vs. Bolt EV. It is even more impactful in person. The roof of the Bolt is about the height of the hood on the Silverado.

I was curious to see what kind of mileage a 2500 HD would get, and learned that the EPA doesn't even bother testing fuel economy on this class of vehicles?!?

This is true but it's actually true for a very good reason. The variety of trucks within a single platform is through the roof. If you have 5 engines most with several transmission options and the weight can vary by 2,000 lbs by the time you get to "summary" any single number you begin to apply becomes absolutely meaningless.

This is far different than looking at say a Corolla that only fluctuates by 200 lbs and has 2 engine options with a single transmission.

Light duty trucks are excluded because a single number would be completely inaccurate and meaningless to the overwhelming majority of buyers of the truck.
