Finally got around to actually reading through the manual and found this gem: "If it takes some time for help to arrive, while running the vehicle, push the accelerator pedal slightly so the vehicle runs faster than the idle speed. This keeps the battery charged to restart the vehicle and to signal for help with the headlights"

I don't think that the DC-DC converter actually works that way.

I think you can still step on the accelerator, it's just that nothing different happens.

Funny... ther are actually quite a few holdovers in the Bolt manual from old GM ICE vehicles.

From what I can tell, they just deleted the paragraph. The original text talked about saving energy, not gas. The only mention of gas I can find in the 2017 manual is about the gas air-bag inflation, not gasoline.
