32A for 240V, 12A for 120V. It isn't adjustable, it self detects which pigtail is connected.
OK. thanks. clears up a lot of questions.Yes, 120v @ 12A or 8A, 240 @ 32A fixed ..
To add, your '23 EUV is capable of charging at 48A 240V with an optional level II charger capable of that output.....
There is an additional option for 240v @ 12A if you use the 120v plug with an "adapter" to allow it to plug directly into 240v. This solution is only needed if/when you need to use a 240v outlet that cannot support the full 32A (like a 30 A dryer outlet when visiting a family member or friend).Yes, 120v @ 12A or 8A, 240 @ 32A fixed ..

OP, take note of what Jerry said. It is assume you understand the 80% rule for drawing current continuously, as with an electric car.Sounds like you're good to go with the optional 32A dual level as long as you have at least a 40A circuit. It uses a NEMA 14-50 outlet, by the way.
Congratulations and enjoy the new ride!!
You are saying that the GM Lawyers removed the default 8A setting for 120v on the later Bolts?240V for 32A, 12A for 120V and they aren't adjustable
I doubt that has changed. The cord is going to advertise 12A on 120V, the car may negotiate it down to 8A. The point is, the max amps on the cord are not adjustable. You are saying that the GM Lawyers removed the default 8A setting for 120v on the later Bolts?
I think you guys are using confusing semantics: of course, the maximum amps on a cord are NOT adjustable! That is why the word "maximum" is used. The point is, the max amps on the cord are not adjustable.
The 8A is for the EV, not the EVSE. The original OEM Bolt EVSE was always a 12A unit, and as everyone else has pointed out the dual voltage unit is a fixed 32A with the 240V pigtail and 12A with the 120V pigtail. You are saying that the GM Lawyers removed the default 8A setting for 120v on the later Bolts?
Although I have 2019, that is not my understanding of how the current models work on 120v: default to 8A and manually adjust to 12A on either the Infotainment screen of the MyChevy App (and yes, there is the 90 day setting for 12A at "Home.")
Are you saying that when, as I do currently, charge my Bolt EV at 120v at 8A, the EVSE is pulling 12A?!? I doubt it because my 30A fuse would blow given that my daughter's car is charging on our 240v 20A Clipper Creek L2.The 8A is for the EV, not the EVSE. The original OEM Bolt EVSE was always a 12A unit, and as everyone else has pointed out the dual voltage unit is a fixed 32A with the 240V pigtail and 12A with the 120V pigtail.
No, what is being said is that the car can adjust the amperage, not the EVSE. The EVSE is not adjustable. Are you saying that when, as I do currently, charge my Bolt EV at 120v at 8A, the EVSE is pulling 12A?!? Thank you for jumping right in!No, what is being said is that the car can adjust the amperage, not the EVSE. The EVSE is not adjustable.
Glad to help a friend who seems to be confused.Thank you for jumping right in!
Given the OP's original question and the thread of answers that has now been generated by that question, I believe that is what is commonly known as: "a distinction without a difference!"
Again, thank you for jumping into this thread with helpful information for the OP!
As a "wise man" once said:Glad to help a friend who seems to be confused.
You can't handle the truth! (A Few Good Men)
I'm flattered that you think of me as wise. The fact that I am makes no difference. I'm not clear on the truth you are talking about. The truth that the EVSE is not adjustable? Or, the truth that you were confused? Perhaps, both.As a "wise man" once said:
Neither: I was just linking our other thread, so that the others reading this thread would understand why "snarkiness" and "sarcasm" suddenly drifted into this thread...I'm flattered that you think of me as wise.
