The mock up I got to sit in (If this same car), had the same inner dimensions as the Bolt. Same storage capacity in the back. It was just a Bolt with SUV/CUV styling.
Thanks for that. From the pictures, it was hard for me to gauge the size of this thing. If it's really the same as that mockup, that's really disappointing. Bigger, but for no reason except to be bigger. I can accept bigger if it had a bigger trunk. But bigger for appearance's sake is a waste.
Ick. I don't understand why everyone wants SUVs, except for the fact that if you don't have one, you can't see around everyone else's godforsaken SUVs.
Me neither. Sure, a very small percentage of people use them. But the VAST majority of people say they "need" them, but their reasons aren't rational, they are rationalizations.

I miss having a lower seating position. It's far more engaging to drive as it connects you to the road. Sadly, the only one making EVs like that is Tesla, and I've already ruled them out as a company in the near future. So basically I bought a tall vehicle (yes, the Bolt is way too tall) but only because it was my only real option and NOT because I wanted it.

I bought the Bolt because it is tall. I am 6'1" and I am done with folding myself into low vehicles.
That's well and good. I am glad the car fits you. We should have options, is what I'm really trying to say. And I shouldn't be forced into a car that is much too tall just because it fits someone more than half a foot taller than me.
When that's the only option, yes. Like I said, my only other option would be Tesla, but they are off the table for me.

My 2 cents - I have two kids and the Bolt is plenty big for the 4 of us. We've taken week-long vacation trips in it. The most ambitious trip included time at the beach, time in the mountains, and a few nights camping in between (so we had our tent, air mattress, sleeping bags, chairs, etc. all packed along with the 4 of us. IMO the VAST majority of people who say the Bolt is too small if you have kids simply don't know how to pack properly. The only exceptions are things that are legitimately large. For example, my son plays the double bass and we cannot fit it and the 4 of us in the car. But we rarely travel with it - only to local concerts, in which case we take two cars.

Also, I too miss the lower seating position. The car handles better, plus you just feel more connected with the road. It's a much better experience all around. But those don't sell any more so most of them are gone. I REALLY miss the import sports coupes of the 90s. I wish someone would make a sports coupe EV. It would be a great commuter / around town car. The Bolt is already big enough for my family of 4 and our stuff. And my wife and I need two cars anyway (two commutes in opposite directions).

Menlo EV is longer, wider, and less tall than the Bolt - all moves in the right direction. I sure hope this has a lot in common with the Bolt EUV.

As an aside, the Model 3 is not a "compact" sedan. It is a midsized sedan.

Interesting presentation. On slide 15, I notice that they are claiming the all new battery system will, among other things, have "Improved DC Fast Charge". I assume it means faster charging to 80%. That's really what I want.
