Bolt EUV on jack stands

3009 Views 26 Replies 16 Participants Last post by  Engineer731
I want to leave my Bolt EUV on jack stands in the garage for the summer. Can I use a floor jack in the middle of the car so I can slide the stands under the jacket points on the front and rear?

The TIRE symptoms are likely some flat-spotting, and having the pressure leak away. Checking the pressure monthly ....
That's the question, wth is "Flat Spotting" and does its feeling vanish in 2 miles,,, if it's even noticeable at all?
I totally agree to check pressure monthly, just like we all do by glancing at the display. Does your tires need air monthly?
I like the battery maintainer also, although if the OP leaves it plugged in that won't be needed. Will the car be stored in extreme temps? If so the battery needs TMS.
When a tire sits at rest for a long duration with the full weight of the car on it, the nylon or steel cords in the tire will maintain the flat area for awhile when the tire is next rotated during use. It used to be really bad on 4ply tires of old, but radials don't seem to be affected as much by this. So there you have it, "flat spotting".
It can also be caused by locking up your tires during heavy braking, and that usually does not go away. Watch a Formula 1 race and see how fast they change out a flat spotted tire!

In F1, when they lock up the brakes, it probably scrubs a half-inch of rubber off the tire, because they're so soft. I was in the paddock at the Long Beach Grand Prix many years ago, and saw a set of used tires stacked in a pit. It was unbelievable how much junk was embedded in the tires, that it had picked up on the track. Most of it was rubber "marbles", pushed deeply into the surface of each tire.

1. 'There you have it'. No Problem Found.
Lots of cars sit unused for months at a time. No Problem Found.

2. Yep this is real Flat Spotting. You can see it and touch and and will always feel it for the life of the tire. This I know, from the days before ABS.
Got to love F1 and other race series that don't allow all this new fangled ABS and Traction/Stability Control.
Got to love it in a normal car!

oops
Really?? You're worried about a car sitting on its tires for 3-4 months? Because of potential flat spots? Drive for 5 minutes and they disappear! Jeez!🙄
Wow, I stand corrected! There is NO jack point diagram in the owner's manual. Found this on Flick'r.

Thank you very much - I have looked all over for this type of diagram.
