Hi, I am new to this forum, and would like your input on problems when charging. I tried plugging into a Chargepoint charger I use frequently at work, but my Bolt would not charge. The charger itself is working properly, as my college used it to charge his car. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Are you still able to charge on your L2 EVSE at home?

Did you try another Chargepoint unit at your work location?

Being that you say you are new to this, my apologies in advance for confirming basic info:
1) What year Bolt do you have? Is it set to limit the amount of charge?
2) Being that it is a chargepoint station I assume you established an account, that the account is active and funded, and that you activated the Chargepoint station before connecting the plug to the vehicle?
3) What does the light on the top of the dashboard do when you plug the vehicle in?
4) as others have already asked, can you charge at other locations?

You mention that you've used the charger 'frequently' so can I assume you've successfully charged with it before? Thank god there's a video above to help you find the charge port on your car so reference that if need be. Do you get any error lights, sounds, anything that give you something to go on? There were great questions above those helpful video's that would help us understand the situation so we can share our experiences.

Hi all,

I'm going to jump in here. I just purchased a 2020 Bolt and attempted my first charge today at a Chargepoint station. I'm coming off of a plug in hybrid so I have used these stations *successfully) before. When I plugged in the Bolt, I got a message on the dashboard that the charger was not plugged in properly. I tried three different stations and got the same message, so it's not the stations. I checked the charge settings on the car (set to immediate) so that's not the problem. Any ideas?

Thanks.

this might be an issue with Chargepoint charging station. I've had some problems before with Chargepoint when using it to charge my Prime. sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Hopefully its the charging station and not the Bolt.

The car won't charge if it can't engage the connector's latch properly, so make sure you give it a good firm push all the way in. It might help if you use your thumb to help push down on the latch to engage it - just make sure that it's not so tight that you can't release it again.

Some of the charge cables have a piece of foam or rubber at the base of the plug that resists full insertion, and I've read of folks who have resorted to prying it out in order to get the connector properly seated.
