I configured the mychevrolet app to work with the used 2017 Chevy Bolt I just bought but it won't let me start and drive the car without the physical keyfob. I am able to lock/unlock, and pre-condition the car from the mychevrolet app, but when I try pressing the start button in the car the car display says there is no key present.

Is there something else I need to configure with the mychevrolet app so I can start the car without requiring the physical keyfob?

By the way, I called On Star to get it configured but I didn't pay to have it activated. I am sure that the mychevrolet app is working with a local wireless connection to the car since it won't unlock the doors if I am too far away.

I never set up KeyPass for our 2017, but I am pretty sure it won't allow actually starting the car. It can be used to start the HVAC system to precondition the cabin.

GJETSON is correct. You can not start the car from the app, only precondition. You will need to have the keyfob present in the car in order to start it.
