I don't see this documented or discussed anywhere, but today I left my car on when I left it (by accident!) but I locked it with the fob. A car attendant noticed that it was on, but couldn't get in because it was locked. Later, she checked the car again, and the power was off, but the doors were now unlocked.

When I got home, I reproduced this and it happened again after 1 hour, when I checked it. I am now trying to see how soon it happens, by checking every ~10 minutes.

Has anyone else observed this? It doesn't seem like secure behavior.

You can check on your car with the app. Even after the free first month trial ended, I am still able to lock/unlock and precondition my Bolt.

I checked, but none address the car auto-unlocking in the absence of the key fob/driver. This fees like a pretty significant security vulnerability. I do not feel safe knowing that if I accidentally don’t turn off my silent-running car and walk away that it could end up unlocked without my knowledge.

If you have the radio on when you turn off the car, the radio will go off then on again, and then turn off when you open the door. Meaning the radio should be off when you leave the car.

Also, seem the car should honk at you if the car is on and the key fob leaves the car. I do remember this happening in the summer when I went to get free charging but did not want to turn off the car while I plug in.

BTW, please add your year and trim of your Bolt as your signature - it helps as different years' models may behave differently.

Yeah, the real solution here is to not leave the car turned on. Check your settings and make sure that the car is set to give it's annoying little triple-honk if the drivers door opens and closes with the car turned on.

From what I can tell, the triple honk you speak of can not be disabled. I would love if someone could prove me wrong as it's really annoying.

Wow. It worked. It was worded a bit differently than you described so I'm guessing those instructions are for a pre 2019 Bolt. THANKS!

Even with the annoying triple honk disabled, there will be a little chirp from inside the car when you leave it running and take the fob with you. So it isn't as if the car won't give you some sort of reminder.
