Anyone know why my 2018 Bolt "chirps" briefly when I close the driver door after a few seconds. How to make that not happen? It doesn't seem to do it when the door closes immediately.

If you take the fuse out of the low speed noise maker, under the hood, the chirp stops working.

The dam thing chirps if you have the key in your pocket also, taking the fuse out stops that nonsense.

I suggest downloading a pdf copy of the manual. You can then search for 'chirp' and find all the different reasons (and there are many) that the car chirps, and figure out which one pertains to your situation.

There's also the chirp when you plug it in. You get out of the car, plug it in, the light on the dash first turns yellow, then the light turns green and there is a single chirp to let you know the car is charging. I hear that chirp a few seconds after I get out of the car and then I know all is well and I can go in the house.

See if this helps.
From page 146 of the owner's manual Under Instruments and Controls:
Remote Left in Vehicle Alert
This feature sounds an alert when the RKE transmitter is left in the vehicle.
This menu also enables Remote No Longer in Vehicle Alert.
Select Off or On.

...and it can chirp if it thinks you've left a kid in the back seat, using some algorithm that tracks the sequence of opening and closing front vs rear doors.

The cause of the chirp is usually shown on the instrument cluster, although you sometimes have to open the driver's door again to turn it on so you can see the message.

And this just happened to me today with my grand daughter. I opened the other back side door to grab something and she decided to slide across the back seat and get out. Car beeped at me a couple times and when we got back to the car it was unlocked even though I tried to lock it. It had refused. Assuming a kid was still in the car. Thanks to this mention in this thread, or would not have realized what had happened. Still learning new things about this car.
