And this just happened to me today with my grand daughter. I opened the other back side door to grab something and she decided to slide across the back seat and get out. Car beeped at me a couple times and when we got back to the car it was unlocked even though I tried to lock it. It had refused. Assuming a kid was still in the car. Thanks to this mention in this thread, or would not have realized what had happened.
