Adding to the list of complaints for the shi*ty interior, my center armrest squeaks and creaks non-stop. Any bump or me moving the armrest is mental torture.

Anyone else have this problem? Just wondering if there's an easy fix or do I have to take it back to the dealer.

I have no issues with mine but I don't extend it or put a lot of pressure on it just resting my arm.

I have seen a long list of complaints on all kinds of cars over the years, most of the so called problems are usually caused by the owner and the way the object is used.

Back 30 or 40 years ago you could get away with leaning on center arm rests with all of your weight, but not today, not on a car built to be as light as possible.

The old saying "They don't build them the way the used to" its for a reason they are built light to go as far as possible on a charge.

I have no complaints with the center arm rest on my Gen 2 Volt. Strangely, my Volt and my Bolt EV are both 2017's so I'd have to disagree with the "Back 30 or 40 years ago..." comment. It's a bad design and it's okay to admit that.

Mine doesn't squeak, but I did notice that it *cannot be opened* if it is slid forward to a more comfortable position. The arm rest must be all the way back in order for the latch mechanism to function.

By design.

Why?

I suspect it's because if you opened it with the armrest in the forward position it would block much of the space below anyway, certainly the rear half of it.

My baby Prius does the same; which means it's probably a standard feature.
