I have recently bought Bolt 2017 in Ukraine and found its seats uncomfortable for me. The problem in my shoulders and their width. I'm touching seats' edges with them and cannot fit inside of seat. My intention is to swap seats from another car with wider seats. As far as i know Volt 2-n generation seats precisely fits bolt's seat frame and they having wider width. Does anyone having experience with such replacing and maybe other vehicle seats also fit ?

Your biggest concerns should be vehicle integration with seat occupancy sensors and airbags.

Seats aren't just seats any more.

Implied in the first reply is the dimensions of the rider's body with respect to the multiple airbag deployment locations. I certainly have read about uncomfortable seats, so you are not wrong about that. I used to have warning light problems because I put a heavy shoulder bag on the passenger seat of my Toyota Prius. In fairness to Ukraine, plenty of American posters have expressed wishes to treat their Bolt like they just pulled it into the shop bay of my 1968 High School auto shop. Those days are over. You are playing with fire.

(I was pleasantly surprised at the level of comfort of my 2021 Premier seats.)

For now as temporary measure I bought 2 capes and covered front seats. Of course these capes do not make seats wider but improve softness. I like the way they covered leg area close to seat adjustment levers, when going in and out of car i was always heating these rigid places. Made from natural sheep wool and priced $50 each. Anyway i've already ordered volt2 seats and definitely will try to fit them in as soon as they arrived.

Do I open it up and re-tension or replace the metal parts?

@Tolb They feels good for body, soft and warm. Original seats are very rigid for me, i guess it also because of my body weight 227lbs(103kg). I bought these covers from local seller on olx.ua (original product link), they mainly ship goods within Ukraine only. So then i searched similar products and found these.

Okay im done, seats changed. Guys its absolutely different feelings, softer, wider and overall having way better look than original ones. Unfortunately i was unable to change seats myself because i had no wiring diagram for Volt and Bolt so i drove to non-official GM service where new seats were placed. Also i'm having intention to change back seats cloth to make them look same as front ones.

I hate to continue this very trivial seat topic in light of world events and the OP's situation now... BUT wanted to say I think the job he did swapping out for bigger/comfier Volt seats, and then reupholstering with matching alcantra, is AMAZING. I would pay a lot of time/money to get that in my Bolt!!

My driver's seat is getting grungy after 5yrs of abuse. Has anyone tried replacing the OEM seat bottom cover with another OEM cover? I found a place to order and exact cloth replacement, but have a bad feeling it will be a major hassle to get the new one on... I found step by step instructions for the seat back, and it looks like a real nightmare...can't find anything about the bottom cushion tho
