Chevrolet has been on the offence with its commercials lately. The company has been using its commercials to pit its own vehicles against those of its rivals. This time it is the Volt which is taking on the Leaf and the Prius.

Check them out.

That's pretty awesome, it's what will get a lot of people from this segment to check out the video's and maybe at the least get them into a dealership.

It's pretty gutsy to do advertising like this. Similar to politics, going negative can be much more effective than always staying positive. But it must not be seen as being very nice by the other automakers. I'm sure that Mary Barra isn't all buddy buddy with the Japanese after putting commercials like these out.

Maybe she can target FCA next so that Sergio will stop bothering her for a merger.

the leaf commercial wasn't as bad but they were basically calling the Prius old and obsolete with their engine. Maybe this will be the boost that other auto companies need to come out with better electric vehicles.

Can’t blame Toyota for using an older battery model for the Prius Hybrid when they were busy developing their more efficient hydrogen fuel-cell. Both EV’s and hydrogen fuel cars run into charging/fueling issues so I’m more interesting in seeing how each company deals with that.

Obviously this commercial gives a very biased and incomplete view of the whole issue. Hopefully Nissan and Toyota respond by giving more information on the technologies that they have and are working on. Maybe they will also come out with some ads that directly go after the Volt. That would certainly be entertaining.
