I think I've read that's a "feature" that can't be changed. You CAN turn the volume all the way down before you shut the car down to avoid getting blasted by music automatically. When I start up my car the radio automatically comes on and I don't want it to happen. I've looked through the manual but haven't found a solution for it not to come on at start up. Does anyone have any information to help me?
I found you can adjust the volume after shutting off the vehicle. After shutting off the car, it will turn the radio back on for your listening pleasure. Then you can adjust the volume to zero. Typically use the camera to pull into my garage, so I take that time to return the display to my default. Then exit the car.You CAN turn the volume all the way down before you shut the car down to avoid getting blasted by music automatically.
Turn the volume knob counter-clockwise until the sound goes to "zero". It's just like we used to do in the old days where you'd turn the knob until it "clicked" to turn off the radio. When I start up my car the radio automatically comes on and I don't want it to happen.

But good news! Chevy has a software update they can do to stop this problem.
Take the car to your dealer and ask for the radio software update.
It helped me and it was free!
