Wasn’t there a scandal in LA that the police department purchased a huge amount of electric cars to go green, but the cops didn’t use them at all since the range was around 125 miles? Those might be great buys if they ever became available.

Those are common in Northern California communities too. And also for city employees who are out and around - building permit inspectors etc.

Hyattsville, MD has used a Chevy Bolt EV as a regular police vehicle since 2017 , the first community to do so. I expect when pursuits do not exceed 93 MPH, it does just fine. I expect many municipalities will use EVs in many different roles over the next 3-5 years, just for the cost savings.

Just for fun -

Cotati incorporated when the new state university opened there. Students are well represented in city government. With only about a square mile and 1,000 residents, the new 'city' felt a traditional Crown Victoria wasn't needed.
