For the 2017-2021 Bolts, they are on the right steering wheel stalk. .
Where is the button on/off switch for the windshield wipers on the Chevy Bolt? Is it auto sensor? Thanks in advance for your help
Thank you. I was fiddling around with the right steering wheel stalk but still couldn't get the windshield wipers to come on. Only the rear windshield wiper, not the front windshield wipers 😰For the 2017-2021 Bolts, they are on the right steering wheel stalk. .
The front wipers require the stalk to be lifted toward the roof. One click starts the intermittent wipers. Second and third clicks for medium, and fast.Thank you. Thank you, I was just trying to turn knobs👍You need to lift the stalk up - it's easy to leave them in the OFF mode.
Yes, muscle memory is real! Took me a week to get used to the cruise control buttons on the “wrong” side of the wheel when switching Leaf to Bolt.Another note: I think I understand your confusion. The wipers are one of several controls in the Bolt that are in the same place as in a Japanese or Korean car, but move in the opposite direction. The wipers are the most troublesome of those, when switching between cars. In my Prius, for instance, the right stalk gets pushed up for one sweep, and down for continuous operation (first to intermittent, then low and high speeds). The Bolt is exactly the opposite. So, I'm not sure what car you had before, but yes, it can be confusing.
Another point, that can be confusing if you haven't driven many different cars, is the lights. On all Japanese (or Japanese-designed) cars I've driven, the controls are the same: turning the left stalk, which is otherwise up/down for turn signals and forward/back for high/low beams. The Bolt is consistent with long-time US car practice (though details vary between US carmakers) with the light switch on the dash left of the steering column. And even in my bare-bones 2017 LT, the lights are fully automatic and seldom have to be manually messed with; the headlights even turn on automatically when the windshield wipers are in use.
Edit: at least it's not like the 1960s, where about the only things standardized were the steering wheels, turn signals, and automatic transmission PRNDL sequence. And even the turn signals could vary: one BMW I drove had them on the right...
Are you sure about that? Did you RTFM?The front wipers require the stalk to be lifted toward the roof. One click starts the intermittent wipers. Second and third clicks for medium, and fast.
Wouldn't it be quicker if the very first response to the OP was "RTFM"?
Quicker? Yes. Better? For me, no. I actually like to read these threads. Almost always, I gain a nugget of useful information. To tell someone to RTFM does not exude the spirit of helpfulness or friendliness. I go with the thought that there are no stupid questions and would rather submit an answer instead of telling someone to RTFM.Wouldn't it be quicker if the very first response to the OP was "RTFM"?
I think that's easier than putting a simple question on forum and wait for a stranger to hopefully answer correctly.
But some think that may be a rude response, but it is the quickest way to get an answer. So here we are days later.....
But now I have a question: Does the newer Gen Bolt have 'Auto Wipers'?![]()
Not a stupid question. It means Read The Funny Manual. It used to be RTM but the F got added somewhere along the line. What's RTFM ? 😰 Another stupid question? 🙏
Read The Factual Manual. What's RTFM ? 😰 Another stupid question? 🙏
See, this is something I did not know.Read The Factual Manual.
I can't do that. So I'm asking randos on a forum: Is there an Auto Wiper function on a new Bolt?
I know that the rear wiper will come on auto if: The wipers are ON and Reverse is selected.
