I am considering a Tesla to J1772 adapter. I have a Gen 2 HPWC in my garage for our Tesla, and the adapter would provide a little redundancy for me..... but I recall a few months ago something about the Tesla tap didn’t work with some HPWCs.... and I just stumbled upon something called a coffee bean that hooks to the pilot signal and pulls it down to 9v to fool the EVSE.... what’s this about? What does it have to do with Tesla gen 2 HPWC?

My Tesla Tap has never let me down. I have used it for: a) some convenience charges, b) when I am staying overnight and there are 3 Tesla plugs and 1 J-1772 so as to not block a driver with no Tesla conversion capability, and, c) at the mountaintop Snowshoe Ski Resort where there are 2 Tesla plugs, NO J-1772, and at least 50 miles to the next nearest J-plug.

That is a part from inside one of the J1772-Tesla adapters. It is on the parts page. Unless you are planning to build your own unit, you'll have no use for it.
