Started my trip from Arkansas to the East Coast of North Carolina today and the first two EA stations I have hit were both complimentary charging... no idea why but I am hoping this trend continues! Met a new Bolt owner at the first stop and gave him info about the forum, and useful apps to have, hopefully we will see him here soon.

My guess is you stopped at the one on I40 at Memphis.. welcome and have a safe trip!
Nope, skipped that one, it is too close to home. Jackson TN, Nashville TN, Cookeville TN, and Knoxville TN. We will stop for the night in Asheville, North Carolina.

I wonder if the trend will continue into tomorrow and into North Carolina?

Thanks for your hint! I tried my closest Electrify America site in the southern part of Nor Cal. All 3 DC FCs are showing "complimentary session" but one of them wouldn't start charging. Another one is working for me fine, for free.

I just plugged in and eventually, it auto started. Of course I didn't use any app, NFC or credit card.

If you have a compatible car with their DC FCs and it's a short drive, might be worth trying.

FWIW, the DC FC I'm using seems to have a dead credit card reader (black screen). The J1772 EVSE is also busted (says "charge unavailable" on the screen).

I wonder it's related to their rollout of a new version of their iOS app today: ‎Electrify America.

I told another Bolt driver I know from public charging and he showed up to use the other working DC FC.

I’m sitting here laughing because this reminds me of my 900-mile one-way trips last year where I got “complimentary tolling” on the East coast I-95 corridor. This actually started in 2019 where states were transitioning to video tolling to remove all cash lanes and complement EZPass. I never got a bill in 2019, and I wonder if it’s going to happen for 2020, too (or they’re just way behind on sending out the bills). Anyway, as part of my online investigation with each state, I noticed some insanely high new video toll rates ... like ... as high as $12 (!!), so I’m going to finally sign up for EZPass ... just not sure which state to do it with ... rules and fees are kind of all over the place.

Anyway, EZPass can be used for parking, too. I wonder if there’d be any interest in setting it up to be used for re-charging an EV?
