My Bolt has been in auto mode for the time and date. I noticed that when we fell back an hour over the weekend, the time did not change. I tried turning my car on and off, cell phone on and off, and plugging my cell phone in to see if that would work since the Bolt says the time is set automatically based on the cell network. None of that worked. I ended up having to change the time manually. Anyone else having the same issue?

Had the same thing, but the Bolt eventually corrected itself. Full reply in this thread:

I was determined to see how long it would take for my clock to finally correct the time after the daylight savings was over. At about noon today (old time) on what I estimated to be the sixth start since the time change, the clock had corrected itself without any user input.

There's hope after all.

Same here under AT&T in Maine. Sunday--no luck. Today at 8AM driving to a client and bingo, the time changes from 9:00AM to 8:00AM.

Mine took three days, but in the interim I wondered if there was a bug and futzed around with manual vs auto time setting. While the solution is to wait, I don’t understand why GM would let this period of time elapse before the time changes. So for 1+ days, the consumer has to wonder what is wrong and research the problem and come to this forum to decipher what’s up? Could you imagine if your phone behaved the same way? It’s so strange because they know where you live and the location of the car. They easily could determine the time zone.

I guess we were lucky. Went out for lunch on Sunday about 1:00 PM (new time, EST) but our 2017 Bolt said 2:00 (which it would have been on the old EDT). After about an hour we got back in the car to go home and upon starting the time had changed to 2:00, so it had updated while we were having lunch. That was only 12 hours after the time officially changed at 2:00 AM and on the 2nd startup sequence after the change.

My 2017 Bolt "auto set" time setting worked just fine, as did my 2016 Chevy Equinox. Likely not in GM's controll, my assumption would be that the radio station that broadcast the time tones or the cell time received by OnStar was delayed in being correct and that the vehicle must also go through a key-on / key-off event.

Would be nice if they had a note in the owner's manual saying "be patient" or will be correct after key/on key/off while receiving a good cell signal

My '18 bolt did the same thing. After two days I decided to take matters into my own hands. I had to take the clock out of automatic update, change the time manually and then I put it back in automatic mode. Thankfully after all that manipulation I was still able to get home. ? We'll see what happens.

My working theory is that the car synchronizes the time to the cellular network provider using its built-in cellular modem, but that this is only done when a voice or data connection is actually made. That would occur either when you use the car (NOT your phone) to place a voice call, or when you use the car's built-in WiFi to access the Internet, or when you access the car via the MyChevy phone app, or on some sort of built-in schedule that the car uses to upload telematics data.

And so if you don't have a cell account for the built-in cell modem (and why would you if most folks already have a cell phone on their person?) then that modem is never used, right?
I believe I saw a post here verifying that their clock updated and stating that they did not have an OnStar account. However they did not mention if they had a data account nor separate cell provider account for the vehicle.

Mine updated after a day's delay. I have no data or On Star. Mine is a 2017 so I have the older free 5 year On Star basic. I don't use or even have the app. I did log in through my.chevrolet.com and also tried hooking the car up through WiFi. Neither of those actions caused the clock to change. The clock changed all on its own while I was in town running errands. It seemed to change after a start because I checked the clock right before shutting the car down going into a store. Minutes after leaving the store, I noticed that the clock had changed. Estimated that I had started the car about six times since daylight savings ended.
