Saw an in transit Bolt equipped the way I want three weeks ago. Initially quoted 2k over MSRP. I said no thanks. 10 minutes later they called back saying MSRP.

It's a bit distant and I need to get my Leaf with at least 1 charging stop. I called to set up a meeting. But it had already gone under deposit.

Well today they call and say the deal fell through. I head out there with the Leaf. But now the paperwork has the extra $2k plus a low ball on the trade. After "checking with the manager" they bump the trade $300 but are firm on the $2k markup.

What a bait and switch plus a waste of an afternoon.

Wow that is the utmost in shabby dealer treatment. Just think what they will do if you need work done on it and better hope it is delivered in perfect condition.

Bought my Bolt from Donohoo 2 years ago. A friend just bought one from them. He did not know about the Costco discount but apparently they asked him if he was a member. Just trying to help him get the best deal. Same as when I bought mine. My friend had a Leaf which he sold back in August.

I might have bought a red one but @MisterJJ bought it the day before so I had to settle for the orange :) Check shipping times to get one shipped.

I haven't heard them mentioned in a while but many here got their Bolt from Donohoo Chevy in Alabama with no markup and low fees. They shipped to Phoenix, AZ and it was still much cheaper than if I got it from a local dealer.
Connecticut has a $2,250 rebate but it has to be purchased from a CT dealer. Otherwise I would have extended my search out of state.

Humm, plus $2,000 and minus $2,500? I would pay $500 more to have an honest deal.

It was so satisfying when a dealer who had made a $4,500 higher offer called as I was driving back from buying my Bolt. Sorry but l bought one today.

Pretty typical dealer and salesperson behavior.

They will directly lie to you. Repeatedly.

In December I put a deposit on a 23 Bolt EUV to buy in January when it would qualify for the fed tax credit. In between the dealership put on a $2500 "market adjustment". My salesman "fought" for me and they removed the adjustment but said I had to buy by Jan 3rd for it count for their 2022 sales. So I did. Afterwards I looked at the other Bolt EUV they had and now the market adjustment is $5000. Whatever the market will bear I guess.

UPDATE

The day after I visited the dealer I get an email from the General Manager. Kind of generic but asking why “I hadn’t taken ownership“, salesperson, vehicle, or value.

I related my experience In a responding email.

The next day I get an email from the Sales Manager. Long convoluted story about how the “mix up“ happened but says they can now do MSRP. They email the numbers. The one extra they threw in was the classic VIN etching. I said no and it was taken off without a fight.

One interesting thing though was that the sticker has the new $27,800 base price. Word I heard was that only cars built after January 1st would get the $600 increase. With this arriving on the lot just a few days ago it must be a 2022 build. GM must have slipped this into the sticker early. Can’t do much about that now.

Delivery is Thursday. We’ll see how this goes.

DELIVERY!

Well, things went pretty smoothly today. Finance guy quickly showed me all the add ons but basically said “you don’t need this”. Craziest was $699 for key insurance. He had the EV tax declaration filled out but I did have to ask for my copy three times.

Ran through setting up My Chevrolet and On Star and off I went.

Spent a couple hours in the driveway trying to have my phone make nice with the car’s Android Auto. Phone is an older $99 Motorola. No wireless connection and USB connectivity was iffy. I might need a USB C to C cable.

Glad I was able to get the deal back to MSRP. Was worth the hassle.

And in case anyone is interested in something fancier than a Bolt, they’ve got a used Fisker on the lot looking for a good home.

Thanks,

I’d need an Android Auto version which I see Amazon has for $99. Same as the original price of the phone.

Battery on the phone is pretty aged so I usually end up plugging it in anyway.

Mine was $150, so you're getting a good deal. I see online ads now for "The Magic Link"

There was a time I was using so many apps on the phone at the same time, that charging from the USB port in the Bolt EV could not keep up.

So the other advantage of wireless CarPlay is that I charge off a higher power USB charger plugged into the cigarette lighter port.

I get (according to the phone) ”Turbo Charging” from the car USB C to phone USB C connection so I’m fine there. It does charge amazingly fast. Much faster than any USB A connection in the past. Can even feel the phone get warm. And wired Android Auto seems to work OK. Trying to put off upgrading the phone at least for now.
