with cold weather setting in and a passenger on board (who normally isn't), a newly-occuring "thump" was felt -- and has me wondering if it is something normal and expected or an issue -- it happened a couple of times at city driving speeds -- at least once while accelerating (it wasn't just the wheel hitting something) -- felt it below my left foot near left front wheel well while driving like maybe a solenoid moving?? -- any ideas what could cause such a repeated thump?

Sounds a lot like the link kit. This is a well known Bolt EV weakness. Got this twice on my 2019 Bolt EV.
Fortunately, it is pretty cheap to replace and it fixes the issue instantly.

You can search the forum for discussions about this.

I sometimes feel a kind of weird movement/sensation under my foot that is caused by the floor mat rubbing on the steering shaft U-joint as I turn the steering wheel. Nothing to worry about.
