Since purchasing my 2019 Chevy Bolt in December 2018, my car has malfunctioned in a variety of ways that that have resulted in the car being in the shop for prolonged periods time (week plus), an inability of Chevy service staff to properly diagnose problems along with a general lack of knowledge at dealerships about how the car works and how to fix it. To make matters worse Chevy is slow in providing the support and the parts needed.
Issues have included: vehicle losing power and stopping on a freeway 2 times, faulty charge door, intermittent blackening of the radio screen, resulting in loss of radio, heat/temperature control and back-up camera.
After reporting the screen issue, the dealer had the car for about a week but returned it to me not repaired because of Chevy’s policy of having to duplicate all issues in their shop before even attempting to address them. I drove the car for one more day, the screen went dark while the car was running. I pulled over and shot a video depicting the issue. Only then did Chevy decide that I needed a new screen.
Now that I have a new screen, this morning, the heat/temperature control button and temperature gauge malfunctioned despite turning the car off and on repeatedly. Finally, after about 80 miles/1.5 hours of driving, it came back on. We captured this event on camera too.
What a hassle! What a disappointment! I feel like I’m a test driver in some prototype vehicle!!
