Looking at Bolt EVU Premier - seems like a nice toy, but do you really use it figuring most use as a short trip car.

The difference is $38,000+ or $36,000 for basically the same car.

Not sure if I can ask a 2nd question- looking at pre-buying a Bolt charging apps. Looks like rapid charge are hard to find. What adapter names do you use to search for charging?

I bought the Premier EUV specifically for adaptive cruise on my commute (also about 35 minutes).

I had considered Supercruise, but for me, my commute just wasn’t long enough to justify the extra expense. If I was going to use the car for longer road trips, then I would have gotten it.

All. The. Time.

Seriously, it's my primary method of driving. And was one of the two criteria I had when looking for a car:

Adaptive Cruise Control & better MPG than my truck.​
Your second question is answered in the beginners quide and FAQ on the forums, which are worth a read, but PlugShare for intra-city chargers and ABRP for distance driving.

All depends on whether you're on the highway. I have it on one car and not the other. I only use it for the two hour plus trips, and love it for those. The other 360 days of the year I do not.

I've only had my Bolt three weeks and have only used it once, just to try it out. What I know is this: we have ACC on our Acura RDX, our comfortable, long-distance traveling car. ACC is one of the greatest inventions ever. I use it all the time on extended highway trips and I just couldn't image ever having a car w/o it.

Adaptive cruise is standard on some cars already. I had it on a 2016 Subaru. Very handy. Another is lane centering rather than lane keeping. Even my cheapie Hyundai Kona rental has it, though the Subaru didn't until the following year. Remember that the Bolt is mid-teens old school tech such as slow charging, never updated. This is typical GM.

Your cheapie rental Kona and your 2016 Subaru are gasmobiles, if you want to talk about old school tech. :D

Yes, the Bolt is now old school as EVs go, and I'm grateful for that. The reason being is that's why the Bolt is currently the best EV bargain. We are being compensated with a low purchase price. And making some features optional, like ACC, gives buyers who don't want/need them, an opportunity to buy an even cheaper Bolt than if they were standard.

Do you mean adaptive cruise control, standard on the Premier, or do you mean Super Cruise, an option that is available with the Premier? We're getting a Premier without the Super Cruise.

Sorry guys… I may have gotten this wrong.
I should have used the term Super Cruise Control and not Adaptive Cruise. I think they are two different things. Super cruise is free for three years then you have to pay $300 a year to OnStar for car to continue to self drive

OK, that clears things up. We're getting the Premier, which comes with adaptive cruise control. The Super Cruise would have very little utility for us. We probably won't even use the adaptive cruise control very often. Mostly it's the other features on the Premier that we want.

The Chevy EV chargers that come with the Volt and Bolt are made for the European (240 volts) and North American (120 volts) markets. The chargers that come with the vehicles are capable of charging at 120 or 240 volts. You can purchase a 120/240 adapter at your local hardware or RV shop, and it will save you the up to $1000 for a special 240-volt charger. I know because I'm an electrician and I charge both my Volt and Bolt with the stock 120-volt chargers.

I had my choice of Chevy Bolt EUV Premier, with Super cruise, or without with the Comma 3 installed. I went with the comma 3 choice, and I'm super glad I did. I know someone with a Bolt with Super cruise and they're not very happy with their choice after seeing mine with the comma 3.

I actually use Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) off the highway too.

Going through small rural towns (like just one main street) where the speed limit is 15-30mph, ACC is great when I am following someone who is taking their time. I don't have to keep riding the pedal.

ACC is an option on the BEV. SC is only available on the EUV. Unless you live in an area that is mapped and you plan to use it daily it is probably not worth the cost. May help with resale though.

We were not interested in either super cruise or the sunroof. The euv premier trim had everything we wanted/needed. It all depends on your use case. We live in a rural area and the car is our around town / local car. We won’t be cruising in it anywhere so no need for SC and I doubt it would even work on the backroad twisties that take us into town. Plan on a lot of interstate cruising? Long commute? Then maybe it’s worth it to you. Good luck.

I use ACC all the time. Super Cruise is very limited use as it does not work on 90% of the places I drive. I think my ACC works better because of the longer range radar that comes with the Super Cruise. But I don't have an EUV without Super Cruise to benchmark it against.
